1965 Exhaust Systems

Choose the Right Piping

There are three different components available from our selection of 1965 Mustang exhaust pipes, and you’ll need at least one of each to create a complete exhaust system. You’ll want to decide whether yours will be a true dual exhaust system, or if you want to make use of single head pipe, which will use a single exhaust flange where the pipe meets your header.

If you’ve already selected a header or set of headers, be sure that you are choosing the right piping to complement them. We also recommend that you grab an affordable new exhaust pipe head flange to make sure that the connection between your new exhaust and headers is as clean as possible.

The intermediate pipe carries your exhaust from the header to the tailpipe. The selection of 1965 Mustang exhaust pipes from CJ Pony Parts includes both 2” and 2 ¼” versions of this section. Make sure that you select the right diameter so that the intermediate pipe you choose will mount up cleanly to your head pipe and tail pipe sections.

The tail section of your exhaust system is where you can get a little creative, and CJ Pony Parts has a great selection of tailpieces to match up with your V6 or V8 1965 Mustang’s factory or aftermarket intermediate pipe. On V6 cars, it’s likely that you will have a smaller diameter pipe (typically 1 ¾” diameter) and single exhaust, so make sure that you select the corresponding exhaust piece. V8 cars can use single or dual exhausts, and we have both options available in both 2” and 2 ¼” diameters in great styles – including old-school turndown exhaust tips and sweet-looking stainless steel.

When you’ve chosen the right set of exhaust pipes for your car, don’t forget to pay our exhaust hangers and clamps section a visit. Once you’re done removing your stock 1965 Mustang exhaust pipes, you’ll be happy to have a fresh new set that you can be confident in when installing your new exhaust system.
