1998 Mustang Hoods

If your 1998 Mustang hood isn't flawless, then your Mustang isn't flawless. Hoods are like faces: One blemish or major wrinkle on that hood, and it ruins the overall beauty of your classic Mustang. Hoods are also what protects the engine from environmental damage and provides insulation from extreme heat and cold. Without a sturdy, high-quality hood gracing your beloved vehicle, your engine's health is at risk, not to mention your Mustang's self-esteem. Luckily, CJ Pony Parts can help. We have an extensive selection of dependable 1998 Mustang Hoods to keep your pony car protected and looking impeccable at all times.

CJ Pony Parts Delivers What You Need

Do you need a professionally crafted, factory style replacement 1998 Mustang hood for your Cobra? Are you looking for a hood manufactured from optimized fiberglass? Do you like the idea of a finished underside liner and pre-cut side hood scoops? If so, you’ve come to the right place!

Browse our inventory, and you’ll find a Cervini Paintable 1998 Mustang hood (2000 Style Cobra R Hood) with an extra strong, finished underside. You'll also have a lot of fun prepping, priming and painting this hood to give your pony car the showroom appearance it deserves. In addition, CJ Pony Parts has metal hoods in stock for owners who prefer the old-style heaviness of metal hoods and don't need to worry about getting weight off the front end of their Mustang.

Painting Your 1998 Mustang Hood Is Easy

Before painting your fiberglass hood, use a dual-action sander with 150-grit sandpaper to eliminate any surface imperfections. Prime your hood by brushing four coats of sandable polyester primer on the hood, then spray black lacquer paint on the primer and wait 10 hours for the primer to dry thoroughly.

Then, wet-sand with 220-grit sandpaper until the paint is smooth and flawless. Brush another coat of black lacquer on your hood, and let it dry eight to 10 hours. Finally, apply at least three layers of your preferred paint to the hood, letting each layer dry about three hours between layers. Wet-sand using 200-grit to remove imperfections and then polish your hood to your heart's content.
