2013 Mustang Wiring

Electrical & Wiring

Are you ready to install some premium accessories on your pony car? Perhaps you want to install some puddle lights to illuminate your path. Or, maybe you’re interested in an LED fog light conversion kit for your 2013 Mustang. Whatever premium accessories you have in mind, make sure you have the wiring you need to get the job done right. When installing accessories on your Mustang, you should take your time and do a nice, clean installation. Aftermarket accessories should be connected to the proper power source, properly fused and grounded. Additionally, all wiring should be done neatly and organized in a factory-like manner. In other words, the aftermarket wiring shouldn’t look aftermarket. CJ Pony parts carries a variety of 2013 Mustang wiring kits and wiring accessories to help you get the job done right.

2013 Electrical & Wiring

Wiring Your 2013 Mustang

Whether you’re installing gauges, interior lighting, exterior lighting or a new stereo system, you’ll need some basic tools and wiring accessories to get the job done properly. It’s a good idea have the following items and tools available:

• Multimeter to test for switched power, constant power and ground.
• Insulated and shielded copper wiring.
• Heat shrink and electrical tape.
• Braided loom and wire ties.
• Solder.

Any time you tinker with your 2013 Mustang wiring, it’s advisable you use a multimeter. With so many on board computers, it’s important to confirm the wiring you are tapping into for power is really a switched 12-volt power wire and not a data wire for one of your car’s computer. A multimeter will help you test and confirm a wire’s true function before you tap into it.

Depending on your accessory’s fuse rating, you may not be able to find a sufficient power source to tap into. A safe way to add an accessory in this case would be to use an auxiliary fuse block. An auxiliary fuse block connects directly to your car’s battery and provides a dedicated secondary fuse block for all of your aftermarket accessories. An auxiliary fuse block also allows you to keep your accessory wiring neatly organized and fused in one location under the hood.

Whenever you make electrical connections to your 2013 Mustang wiring, be sure to make quality connections using solder. Keep your connections insulated and protected with heat shrink and electrical tape. Once you’ve made your connections and have properly insulated them, route your wiring neatly following factory-vehicle wiring. Lastly, shield your wiring using quality braided loom and keep it in place with wire ties.
