The 2015 Mustang is a hot topic of conversation here at CJ Pony Parts. Some of our older customers fondly reminisce about the days when the first pony car hit the streets nearly 50 years ago. One of the most popular talking points is the amount of 2015 Mustang horsepower that potential buyers can expect to find under the hood. The folks at Dearborn finally gave us the full scoop and we have all the details:
The Return of the Four-Banger
The new Mustang lineup will now include a 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that delivers 310 hp It’s widely believed that Ford developed this engine to meet the demands of consumers concerned about fuel efficiency, as well as to ensure compliance with CAFE requirements in terms of fuel economy.
Less Power for the V6?
The 2015 Mustang keeps the same 3.7L V6 that's been around since 2011, though Ford decided to reduce the output, back to 300 horsepower and 280 ft./lb. of torque. While this might deter some, Ford's hope is that the base V6 only receives a small percentage of sales, with the other engine options receiving the majority of interest from buyers. With less power, this will definitely push buyers into the bigger engines.
Keeping the Coyote
Buyers who love lots of horsepower will be happy to learn that Ford is expected to keep the Coyote V8 option for the 2015 Mustang. While it is remains similar to the existing engine for now, the revised Coyote 5.0L delivers 435 horses and 400 ft./lb. of torque, a nice boost over the outgoing version.
