The release of the 2015 Mustang is rapidly approaching. Although news about the 50th anniversary edition of the ever-popular muscle car is not easy to come by, Ford finally unveiled it to the media on December 5, 2013. The general public will get its first glimpse on April 17, 2014, which has been targeted as the official launch date. While Ford dealers should have plenty of 2015s in stock by the fall of 2014, it might be a good idea to contact a dealer about a 2015 Mustang pre-order if you want to own one as soon as it hits the streets. It's expected that Ford will begin taking orders on May 13, 2014, and scheduling of those first 2015 Mustang orders will begin on June 12, 2014. However, production won't begin until sometime in August.
How Much Will a 2015 Mustang Cost?
If you’re considering a 2015 Mustang pre-order, you’ll obviously want to have an idea of how much it will set you back. The staff here at CJ Pony Parts has heard that the base price should be close to the same as that of a 2014 model – somewhere in the vicinity of $24,000. We should point out, however that some sources indicate that a base model could cost as much as 10 percent more – we just don’t know for sure at this point.
Will There Be New Models to Choose From?
Again, Ford has been pretty tight-lipped about the model selection for the 2015 Mustang. We’re all but certain that 2014 will mark the end of the Shelby GT500. On the other hand, we’ve heard a lot of talk about the possible return of the GT350, Cobra or Boss 302. Ford has also applied for and received a trademark for the Mach 1, which could signal the return of this iconic model after a decade-long hiatus.
What About Style?
It appears that the new Mustang will ditch the retro look for a sleeker design based on the Ford Evos concept. Depending on your perspective, this will either be a welcome change or downright sacrilege. As far as the interior, expect upgrades in both comfort and technology. Perhaps the most notable change will be the incorporation of a revamped MyFord Touch communications and entertainment system that is said to be more user-friendly and reliable than previous versions found in other Ford products.
