Ford Mustang RadiosEver since the beginning of the Ford Mustang’s production, the car has included some sort of Mustang Radio. Initially, the Ford Mustang radio was a simple AM radio that was played through a single Mustang speaker in the center of the Mustang dash pad. Over time, though, the Mustang radio has evolved into a complex Mustang stereo with multiple speakers and inputs for satellite radio, cell phones, iPods and other MP3 players.
Typically, the Ford Mustang stereo is available in a standard format for each trim level of the car. From there, one or more optional Mustang radio configurations or packages may be available for each trim level. However, options varied widely depending on model year.
While the typical Ford Mustang radio needs very little maintenance during it’s life, many owners will either upgrade their system, or replace a broken Mustang radio so they can get better sound and/or additional capability. For many model years of Mustang, gaining this additional capability or better sound from their Mustang radio isn’t terribly difficult, as CJ Pony Parts offers plenty of Mustang stereo options for 1964-1993 Mustangs. While some owners opt to install a modern Ford Mustang radio with modern looks, others prefer the classic look. With Mustang radio options from Custom Autosound and Retro Sound, there are plenty of choices for Mustang stereo replacements that look exactly like the originals in your Mustang interior, yet feature the conveniences expected from modern radios. Most options are also easy to install.
