Product Description

PA Performance High Torque Mini Starter for 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973 Mustangs with a 289, 302 or 351 Engine and an Automatic Transmission and 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1995 Mustangs with a 302 or 351W Engine.

If you've increased the compression of your engine or need a replacement alternator, PA Performance's High Torque Mini Starter for 1965-1973 Mustangs with an automatic transmission and 1982-1995 Mustangs is the perfect choice. The High Torque Mini Starter offers better torque, requires less cranking amps and weighs much less than the factory starter. Never worry about being stranded in a parking lot unable to start your engine.

This Ford Style Mini Starter is an upgrade for most applications prior to or near 1993. The PA Performance High Torque Mini Starter works well on higher compression engines up to 12.0:1 compression. Features 1.4kw of cranking power and weighs pounds less than the bulky factory unit. Also provides additional clearance for long tube headers. The starter's very small size increases header clearance and reduces the effects of "hot start". Early factory field wound starters weigh around 18 lbs. The mini starters weigh in at 8-1/2 lbs. which is over 50% less than the factory starter! Even with the small package, the starter packs a bigger punch and requires less cranking amps.

Includes the conversion wire kit for “Upgrade Applications” but it is not used with “Direct Replacement” applications. This unit is smaller than the early starters and the same size but with a stronger output compared to the newer (early 1990s') starters.

All starters are 100% new, tested prior to shipping.

*Also fits 1965-1973 Mustangs that have converted to a T-5 transmission and are using the 1979-1993 late model bell housing.

Purchase a PA Performance High Torque Mini Starter for 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973 Mustangs with a 289, 302 or 351 Engine and an Automatic Transmission and 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1995 Mustangs with a 302 or 351W Engine from CJ Pony Parts today!

PA Performance High Torque Mini Starter Automatic Transmission 289/302/351 1965-1973/302/351W 1982-1995 is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy with the PA Performance Starter I installed the PA Performance High Torque Mini Starter about a week ago and so far I am very happy with it. Installation was easy because the starter is much lighter and smaller than the original. I also like the polished metal finish of the housing. If you are going for the original look I would not recommend this unit but my car has been modified under the hood and I think the PA Performance starter goes well with my other modifications. It is much more powerful than the original starter that I removed from the car and it turns the engine over much faster than the original. So far the starter has met or exceeded my expectations.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This starter has its own solenoid. You have to bypass your fender starter solenoid or your car won't shut off. There are no instructions included telling you how to do this. Good luck. We are still trying to figure this one out.

I am rewiring my motor and using this starter, can I eliminate the starter solenoid all together and run the ignition start wire directly to the starter?

Asked by: mcoomler62
I would keep the solenoid, it acts like a relay so your not drawing unwanted current through the ignition switch.
