What Does CJ's Stand For?

CJ Pony Parts, Inc.Well? Simply put, CJ stands for “Cobra Jet”. Just kidding - CJ stands for CREED and JAY (the names of the two 18 year old kids that started this “company” almost 25 years ago). A lot has changed since then. Gone are the mustaches and mullets. Gone is the two man team of kids working 2 jobs. Gone is selling parts out of the corner of a barn (complete with animals). They have been replaced by “suitable” haircuts, manpower and mortgages on buildings without braying donkeys.

Creed and Jay bought their first Mustang on April Fool’s Day 1984 with the single intention of fixing it up to have something “cool” to drive to school. What happened after that is the definition of the snowball effect. One Mustang turned into two, then three, then 7 and eventually a barnyard full. Extra parts were sold off to pay for additional Mustangs and a used parts business was born. From there, new parts were added to the mix, then service and sales. Fast-forward more than 20 years and you have a company that employs 50 plus and still has the same two “drivers” at the wheel.

CJ Pony Parts, Inc. Back to the original question, what does CJs stand for? Through the years, it has grown to stand for much more than the first initials of two 18 year old mullet-heads. It stands for a company whose focus is on its employees, its customers and their cars. In the beginning, CJs only handled parts for the 1964-73 Mustangs. Then the passion for the newer Mustangs grew. CJs eventually jumped into the late model Mustang business, but not before they had sufficient knowledge about the cars. Let’s face it, the only real similarity between a 1965 Mustang and a 1995 Mustang is the “Mustang” name on the fender. By taking their time, CJs was able to assemble a fine team of employees with a tremendous amount of Mustang knowledge. More than half of the CJ employees own and drive Mustangs which only adds to their knowledge and passion of Ford’s finest car. Creed and Jay believe that good employees are what make and keep a company strong, so keeping employees happy remains a priority of the company.

CJ Pony Parts, Inc.As the Mustang continues to grow, so does CJs. They have become a force in the 2005-2009 Mustang market and they plan to be a leading distributor of 2010 and newer Mustangs parts.

CJ Pony Parts Inc. is a true story of “it all started with that one car”.

Who knew “CJ” would one day stand for carshow journeymen, constant joking, car jargon, and a “certified junker” that led to a future for more than just two kids with mullets and mustaches.
