Product Description

Airaid MXP Series Cold Air Intake Kit with a Blue SynthaMax Filter for all 2015, 2016 and 2017 GT Mustangs.

Cold air intakes are essential pieces of high-performance engines. Cold air is dense and full of oxygen, and that means your Mustang’s engine gets more bang for its buck every time it mixes gasoline and air together. That means you get better combustion from every drop of gasoline. You can feel the extra power right away.

If you’re creating a high-performance ‘Stang with a powerhouse engine, this Airaid cold air intake can give you the extra boost that you need. And at CJ Pony Parts, you can get it at one of the lowest prices on the market!

Superior Performance for the Perfect Drive.

The 2015-2017 Mustang GT is better than ever, and Airaid decided to pull out all the stops to develop the best Cold Air Intake system for the all-new S550 platform. Building on Airaid’s very popular Cold Air Intakes for late-model Mustangs, Airaid’s new MXP-Series Cold Air Intake for the 2015-2017 5.0L GT will surely deliver what performance enthusiasts demand.

Tech Tip: For 2017 GT Mustangs manufactured after 9/16, vacuum for the CMCV’s (Charge Motion Control Valves) is no longer picked up from the intake tube. This will require a plug to be used with the unused port/fitting on your new cold air intake tube when installing on all 2017 GT Mustangs built after 9/16 only. The production date on the vehicle (month/year) is located on decal in driver side door jamb.

A cold air intake is designed to channel cooler air into the intake manifold. This happens by moving the air intake and box further away from the main engine where the air is comparatively cooler than if the air intake were on top of the engine.

To make that happen, this cold air intake comes with an intake tube, intake box and air filter. Each part is also made out of high-quality and durable materials so you can be sure you’re getting the best value for your dollar. Plus, you can add this air intake directly to your engine without any additional modifications.

The new intake features a specially designed one-piece rotomolded intake box that draws cool outside air from the factory air duct location while having a unique shape that will promote airflow around the entire surface of the SynthaMax filter. The new air box design also utilizes a lid with a Plexiglass window that will add to your underhood styling while keeping the filter isolated from hot engine compartment air and will allow you to keep tabs on filter condition. The Airaid cold air intake comes with a number of different parts so you can quickly install it.

Cold Air Kit Includes:
- One-piece Rotomolded Intake Box
- Plastic Intake Tube
- Silicone Couplers
- Stainless Steel Clamps
- 1300-cfm Blue SynthaMax Dry Filter
- Installation Hardware and Instructions

SynthaMax Filter Features:
- Plexiglass window to help keep track of filter condition
- Oil free maintenance, which makes servicing easy
- Washable and reusable
- Unrivaled filtration efficiency, 99+% efficiency rating
- 100% synthetic
- Made in the USA
- Lifetime warranty

The new application-specific intake tube connects the air box assembly to the throttle body on the engine. Designed to maximize airflow and eliminate restrictions, the 5.0L intake tube measures 4” in diameter at the throttle body to support other engine modifications while having a specially formed venturi to ensure accurate MAF sensor readings.

Built for Unmatched Performance.

By utilizing computer-aided design (CAD), Airaid Intakes offer an unmatched fit, finish, and a lifetime warranty. Each Airaid intake provides superior air filtration with an Airaid Premium Blue SynthaMax Filter that features their exclusive patented filter technology. Designed for high-performance applications, the MXP Intakes start with a new one piece roto-molded air box that addresses all the shortcomings of the restrictive factory design. Then Airaid adds a new air intake tube constructed of cross-linked, high-density Polyethylene that is designed using extensive computer modeling to maintain proper mass air flow readings and calibration.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks good Got it and looks much better in person. The installation was relatively easy with the included instructions. Can't really tell difference in performance but can't deny it looks good under the hood. Thinking of getting a tuner later to see if performance upgrade is noticeable.

Can I hydrodip the silver cover?

Asked by: Stang87
We don't offer it that way but you could do whatever you wanted with it.

Why do some cold air kits require a tune, while others don't? any benefits from one to the other?

Asked by: jb123
It all comes down to the positioning of the MAF Sensor. Some manufacturers change the placement or increase the diameter of the intake pipe at the sensor, if this is the case, the vehicle will need a calibration.

Is this legal in California?

Asked by: Rilakil
The manufacturer does not state that it is carb approved. We don't keep track of the aftermarket part laws in any area, so we'd encourage you to check the list of official approved CARB parts here:

I have a 2016 mustang GT.. I was wonder about the sound tube. What does it do exactly.? I've read that you have the option to leave it or remove it? What will happen if I leave it verse removing it? Will it change the sound of my exhaust?

Asked by: Jayar
The sound tube just pipes the sound of the intake track into the cabin. It does not affect your exhaust at all. If you remove it, you must plug the hole in the firewall and on your intake tube.

I have a 2016 mustang GT. Are there any benefits in getting the airaid enclosed air box cold air intake over any other brand open air box cold air intakes.? Which is better enclosed air box or open and why?

Asked by: Jayar
You can't go wrong with either design. One is NOT inherently better then the other.

Airaid Cold Air Intake Kit MXP Series With Blue SynthaMax Filter GT 2015-2017 Video Transcript
By Bill Tumas: AIRAID MXP series cold air intake is a great first choice for modifying your 2015 Mustang GT. You get some extra horsepower of it. It looks great under the hood, and best of all, it does not require a tune making it a true bolt on and go modification. Today, we're going to show you how to install one using our 2015 Mustang GT project car.

The AIRAID kit starts with a one-piece plastic rotoformed air box, which actually works with the factory ducting and fixed in a factory location. It has a clear Plexiglass cover to give it a real nice custom look while allowing you keep an eye on your air filter as well. All the adapters, clamps, and hardware for installation are included along with a plastic inlet pipe and the Synthamax air filter, which does not require oil.

For this installation, we need a 1/4" ratchet, 7-mm socket, 8-mm socket, 10-mm socket, 6" extension, small flat blade screwdriver, 4-mm Allen key, T10 torx bit, T20 torx bit, and needle-nosed pliers.

We're going to begin the installation by removing the 3 thumb screws that hold the plastic battery cover on and disconnecting our battery. Next, we're going to remove our intake cover. You can remove the strut mount brace, which does make this easier, but if you don't want to remove the brace, you can get the cover off without removing it. Once the intake cover is out of the way, we can start removing our factory intake pipe. We'll remove these 3 breather tubes here and then the factory resonator as well. These are just little push in clips. Once the clamp is disconnected, remove both of these hose clamps and remove the inline hose.

The box is held in by only one bolt right here inside of the fender. Keep the bolt handy because you will need it with the new AIRAID. Once you have the air box out, you'll want to remove the grommet here and put it back in the car.

We're going to start prepping the air box for installation by installing the filter adapter. It will be on the inside of the box and screws in from the outside. Go ahead and grab your original air box. We can remove the mass air sensor and transfer it over to the AIRAID. Now, replace the sensor into the new tube and use the supplied hardware to put it in. It will only fit in one direction. Once the sensor is mounted, we're going to install all the aluminum fittings for our air hoses. The larger one goes here, the small one there, another one back here. Put the supplied grommets in place first.

Begin the installation on the car by installing the air box. It connects up to the factory duct work in the factory location. Then, we'll install the factory bolt to hold it down. AIRAID gives you the option to keep the sound tubal resonator or you can delete it. In our case, we're going to keep it. To do so, we're going to start by removing this clamp back here. We're going to replace the front part with the hose provided by AIRAID.

To start the air intake tube install, you'll want to grab the silicone coupler that has the hump in the middle and the 2 larger clamps and put it on the air filter adapter on the air box. Now, we'll take the other silicone adapter and put it on the throttle body. Make sure to leave the clamps in an orientation where you can actually get to them easier to tighten them down. Leave everything loose for now though. Now, we can install the intake tube. Once it's tight, we can reconnect all the hoses we disconnected. Make sure you hear a click when everything tightens down. Now, we'll reconnect the mass air sensor. Carefully move down the clip on the harness and put it into the AIRAID box. Make sure you don't have too much tension on that mass air wiring. We'll put the speed clamps on the supplied hose that goes to our air intake tube and our resonator. Once all the connections to the air intake tube are made we can move on to the filter. Again, you want to make sure the hose clamp is oriented so you can get to it to tighten it. It is a tight fit in here. Replace the Plexiglass cover in the groove on the air box. We'll put our aluminum trim on top. Grab the hardware and tighten it down. It's good to get them all started before you tighten them all the way down.

Now, we're going to reconnect your battery and re-install your engine cover, and your installation is finished.

The AIRAID intake sounds good, looks great. If the previous kits are an indication, it's going to make some horsepower on our 2015 as well. Installation is pretty straight forward and probably going to take you around half an hour. You should be back on the road in no time.
