Automatic Shifter Without Console Kit 1965-1966 is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Improved looks and operation I'm restoring a 1966 Mustang convertible and the floor shifter was tired looking and very loose. I ordered this kit to return my shifter to "like new" appearance and operation. After dis-assembly, cleaning, and painting, I installed the new parts and had a shifter that looked and felt like new. I have not completed the car to the point or installing it yet, but am confident it will work like or better than new. The only item that surprised me was a much smaller set screw holding the new handle on. I doubt the engineers at Ford over-sized the set screw in the original handle, so I cleaned up and kept the old handle and will re-use it if the new comes loose comes loose when I put it in use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seriously good look... I purchased the TMI full console (which is seriously cool) and after fitting it, I thought the look needed some finishing. I bought the Shifter and fitted it over the console despite the kit being designed for no console. It was simply a matter of some longer screws. The completed install really finished off the interior on my 66 notchback. I cant say enough about the purchase, shipping process to New Zealand and how the new set up looks installed...."giddy up"

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cleaned up interior Very good looking replacement. The bushing made a world of difference in firming up my shift lever. Everything went together rather easily.

Does this work with a cable or linkage

The shifter lever is cable operated, from the lever to the transmission is a rod.

Why are there two buttons on the handle? What's the button on the right side for?

Asked by: ian123
The right hand 'button' isn't a button. It is just a fixed piece of plastic with no purpose other than aesthetics.

Will this fit on the Performance Automatic 4R70W Electronic Street Smart Package

Asked by: 123abc
This is meant for 1965-1966 Mustangs with the original transmission. It most likely won't work with the Performance Automatic unit.
