Product Description

157-Tooth Automatic Transmission Flexplate with 28.2 Ounce Balance for 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973 289 and 302 Mustangs with a C4 Automatic Transmission.

Is your vintage 1965-1973 Mustang giving you some hints that all is not right with its transmission? Is your Pony making some rattling noises when it's in idle? Or maybe you were fixing another part on your transmission and noticed that there's a crack in the flexplate? Either way, you're going to need a new one, so be sure to order this 157-Tooth Automatic Transmission Flexplate from CJ Pony Parts!

This 157-Tooth Automatic Transmission Flexplate has a 28.2 oz. balance and is made to OE specs. It's a standard replacement that fits all 1965-1973 Mustangs that have a C4 automatic transmission, a 289 or 302 engine and the smaller bellhousing.

*C4 transmissions came with 2 different sized bellhousings. The larger bellhousing requires the 164-tooth flexplate, and the smaller bellhousing requires the 157-tooth bellhousing.

How does your Mustang's transmission feel? If it doesn't seem to be working well, it might be time to consider a new transmission, perhaps with more gears for increased efficiency, or a new shifter, which will make shifting a much nicer experience. CJ Pony Parts many Mustang transmission parts, so you can easily get the parts you need to make your Mustang's transmission function like new again.

Order a 157-Tooth Automatic Transmission Flexplate with 28.2 Ounce Balance for your 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972 or 1973 289 or 302 Mustang with a C4 Automatic Transmission from CJ Pony Parts today!

Automatic Transmission Flexplate 157T C4 289/302 1965-1973 is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Car Starts Again! My old flexplate was chewed up and mangled so much that the starter could not even engage it. I bought this replacement at a great value and the car fired right up after I had my mechanic install it. Works perfectly!

How do I check to see if I have the larger bell housing for 164T or the smaller housing for 157T? The old one was all chewed up so I'm not sure if it was the right one.

Asked by: hkhanjian
The 157 tooth bellhousing will have ribs that run down to the the transmission on top of the housing, on the 164 tooth bellhousing the ribs will only run part way down the top of the bell housing, I hope this helps.

1965 original flexplate is a 160 tooth, which apparently is no longer made. I'm told to use 157. What will that do to meshing with the starter gear? or visa versa?

Asked by: mustang65
it may work it may not.  the right way to do it is to convert to a 157 tooth setup, but some have run this part on a 160 tooth setup without any reported issues. some have stripped the teeth off the flywheel and starter.i would not recommend running this 157 tooth flywheel on a 160 tooth bell housing.
