B&M Automatic Hammer Shifter for 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991 and 1993 Mustangs with an AOD Transmission.The B&M Hammer Shifter has been designed to fit the stock factory full console in 1987-1993 Mustangs with the AOD transmission. It has a full ratchet action mechanism for positive upshifts and downshifts. Unlike other Hammer shifters, this shifter not only rachets between all of the forward gears but also ratchets into reverse and park. When shifting the Mustang Hammer from neutral or reverse to park positions, just lift the trigger and ratchet the shifter forward for each position. This lockout prevents unintended shifts into Reverse or Park. B&M designed their shifter to work with the existing Ford shifter cable, neutral safety switch and back up light switch. If you buy this kit then decide to switch to a C4 transmission, an additional conversion kit can be purchased so you can use this shifter.

B&M's shifter is designed to work with the steering column lock on your Mustang. Once the lock is connected to the shifter and properly adjusted, the steering column can only be locked and key removed when the shifter is in park. The transmission can then only be shifted out of park if the key is turned on. Some Mustangs are equipped with a brake interlock that prevents the shifter from being shifted out of park unless the brakes are applied. If your vehicle is equipped with this feature, it will also work with the B&M shifter.
