Ford Mustang Year

By Bill Tumas: The 1964-1973 Mustangs were possibly the most popular Ford Mustang parts. Millions of cars and Mustang parts were sold in the first few years, before sales began to drop off as the nation sunk into economic troubles and fuel conservation. In order to accommodate buyers, Mustang parts were downsized for 1974-1978 into the Mustang II. While not well cherished, it did sell strongly during its short run.

In 1979, Ford Mustang parts were again redesigned, based on the Fox platform, which helped restore the car's popularity and lasted until 1993. That design was retired in favor of the new SN95 platform in 1994, which again redesigned most Mustang parts and sold well until 2004, especially with the New Edge update in 1999. In 2005, the current S197 platform was introduced, again redesigning most Ford Mustang parts, both in 2005 and with the minor updates that happened in 2010 and 2013.
