Now available at CJ Pony Parts, this 3" Stainless Steel Downpipe from COBB will give you the potential of adding more power while keeping the factory aesthetics with minimal sound increase.

COBB has designed this downpipe to be a direct replacement option that fits the factory exhaust on your 2015-2017 EcoBoost Mustang. This downpipe is constructed from 304 stainless steel with a 3” diameter for more free flowing exhaust right off of the turbo, with a 2-1/4” connection to connect with the factory cat-back exhaust. A cast/machined turbo flange allows the downpipe to bolt directly to the factory turbo. The metal-spun 200 cell count catalytic converter on this downpipe will keep your S550 street legal. Installation of the downpipe is a breeze with the included necessary hardware, and uses the factory mounting points to bolt-on to your EcoBoost Mustang.

Please Note: This downpipe will require custom tuning as COBB off the shelf tunes are designed to work with COBB's full turbo-back exhaust systems.

Product Questions

Does this downpipe work with MBRP Catback Race 3" XP series Ecoboost exhaust, if I tune with a Cobb Accessport V3? Or do you have some other suggestion for a -16 European Ecoboost convertible if I wan't to go 3" all the way, plus tune with the Cobb?

By Bill Tumas: We built this 2017 EcoBoost Mustang to showcase what Ford Performance offers. While this car is loaded up with Ford Performance parts, there's a few pieces they don't make that we wanted for this build. One of them is a high-quality downpipe. We reached out to COBB, who set us up with one of their high-flow downpipes that we installed on our 2017 SEMA car. Today, we're going to show you how to install it.

This high-flow COBB downpipe is a great way to keep your car emissions legal yet add extra horsepower. This is going to be a direct replacement for the factory downpipe on all 2015 through 2017 EcoBoost Mustangs and features a high-flow catalytic converter, three-inch diameter tubing and is made of stainless steel.

We're going to begin installation actually in the engine bay. That's the easiest place to get to the top oxygen sensor and disconnect it. Now, there's two ways you can get to the nuts that hold the turbo to the downpipe itself, and you can actually get in from the engine bay or underneath, whichever one is easier for you.

Now that we're under the car, we're going to start by removing the rear oxygen sensor plug. Now, we're going to move back to the middle of the pipe and remove the two nuts holding on the bracket for the downpipe. Now, we're going to separate the downpipe from the catback.

Now, with everything else out of the way, we can remove the bracket holding the pipe and remove it from the car. With the pipe out, now we can remove the oxygen sensors and transfer them over to our new COBB downpipe. Make sure you keep the orientation correct with the O2 sensors. The one that comes out at the front, you want to go back in the front of the new pipe.

Now, get rid of our old pipe, and we're ready to install our COBB back on our car. Being careful of the oxygen sensor wires, put the pipe up into place on the factory studs and then install the nuts. With the pipe loosely attached, now we can install the bracket.

Now, we're going to move on to the second part of the pipe, where we connect our downpipe to our catback. Just leave those hand tightened for now. We're going to go back and connect the catback. That way, we have the room to adjust anything we need to. Now, we can tighten up the clamp between the downpipe and our catback.

With the downpipe connected to our catback, now we can tighten up the bracket. While the pipe's connected, now we can reconnect our oxygen sensors. Don't forget to reconnect it and also put the bracket back in place. Once you reconnect the sensor, clip it back on the bracket, and your installation's finished.
