While the factory intercooler on 2013-2016 Focus STs does an great job for the everyday driver, you will need to upgrade it if you crave to go a little faster. In that case, don't hesitate on purchasing this Lightweight Front Mount Intercooler from cp-3. Designed to combine performance with a smaller footprint, this intercooler will allow you to improve the power of your Focus ST and modify it in smaller increments.

Cp-e's FDCK00006T intercooler features a lightweight design that will still improve and enlarge the core compared to its stock counterpart. The core itself is 28" x 8-1/4" x 3-1/2" and makes use of the bar & plate design to make sure there is still a high level of efficiency. The smaller, lightweight configuration will help minimize any turbo lag along with any overall pressure loss on your Focus ST.

As all of their others, cp-e crafts this intercooler to include cast end-tanks that have been welded and pressure tested with the core. The engineering of these end tanks will virtually eliminate turbulence within them to keep the overall drivability of your Hot Hatch at a premium. These end tanks also come with laser cut brackets which will help this intercooler mount right in the stock location, directly bolting into place.

Once mounted within your engine bay, this intercooler will provide the optimal amount of airflow with an even distribution throughout its core. The end tanks will direct the air properly into the core to provide your Focus ST with the most consistent conditions going into the engine. In fact, you'll see significantly lower and more consistent charge temperatures.

I'm not planning on upgrading the turbo, so the lightweight FMIC from CPE was a perfect fit, both physically (I was able to keep all grill ducts, only had to deleted the AGS system) and in reference to my other upgrades. The gains are real! No boost lag! Running stage 3 maps! Its worth mentioning, even though this is the lightweight version of the CPE FMIC, it is still nearly twice the size of the stock.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Intercooler I bought this intercooler about 2 weeks ago to upgrade to stage 2. It was packaged really well. I ordered it on a Sunday afternoon and it was by my door on Tuesday. Overall it is a great product, very well made. Install was pretty easy with the exception of the 2 bottom bolts that hold it in. Royal pita. If you have a buddy to hold the top while you screw the bottom bolt, that was how I did it. Also, make sure you line up the clamps so you can tighten them without having to take off the bumper cover again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT PRODUCT LOVE THE FMIC THE ONLY THING I HAD A REALLY HARD TIME DOING WAS SCREWING IT IN THE BOTTOM MOUNTS REALLY HARD TO GET TO ALMOST STRIPS THE ALLAN OUT. AND ANOTHER THING IS ON MY 2016 ST THE HANGERS ARE TO BIG AND IT WIGGLES. SO ALL I DID TO PREVENT THAT AND MAKE IT SOLID WAS PUT SOME JB ON IT AND IT FIXED THE PROBLEM.

I'm trying to get up to 285 hp at the tires. I'm pretty sure intake, access port, off-road down pipe, exhaust, and an intercooler will do the job. Is this intercooler up to the task? I don't want to replace the stock turbo.

Will I have to upgrade the charge pipes as well? I don't want to have to adjust them if they keep blowing off, rather I'd just get better pipes but I think I've heard this works well will factory pipes.

I do not plan on upgrading the turbocharger.  Would it be worth getting this intercooler over the lightweight version for performance on my 2016 Focus ST?  Is a tune/programmer necessary or can I run stock programming? (for now)

I would suggest using the non lightweight intercooler, you should have a tune before getting into the boost whenever any engine upgrades are done.

What's the difference between this light weight intercooler vs full size Cpe?

Besides the weight and size the larger intercooler will cool more air faster but will have slightly more lag than the smaller intercooler with a smaller turbo.
