After dismounting the stock rear motor mount, cp-e immediately knew that there needed to be a new and revolutionized design. Why, you ask? Well, the function of the rear motor mount is to prevent the engine from swaying to either side of the vehicle while taking those hard corners at the track. The factory design for the rear motor mount is a horizontally mounted design which allows too much stress from side-to-side. cp-e took matters into their own hands when they created this completely new vertically mounted rear motor mount, thus nearly eliminating all horizontal stress.
The process that cp-e goes through to create this xFlex Stage2 rear motor mount is quite extensive. cp-e takes two 17.1 lb blocks of aluminum, inserts them into a CNC machine and shaves them down to just 2.17 lbs.
cp-e uses a different kind of rubber bushing than most other motor mounts. This particular bushing is an EDPM bushing, meaning that regular urethane bushings begin to deteriorate at 200F. An EDPM bushing has a much higher density and temperature tolerance thus helping transform your 2013-2015 Focus ST into a track carving machine. With the use of a low durometer bushing, cp-e was able to create a mount that firmly holds your motor in place with minimal vibration within the cabin.

Is this compatible with the 2016 Focus RS?
Will this void the factory warranty if it is installed?
I have a COBB downpipe installed on my 2014 focus ST and it doesn't have the connectors for the downpipe bracket. Can I use this mount with out the downpipe braket. Would I still get the same performance with this mount?

The cp-e xFlex is unique in that it's actually a two piece mount. Most aftermarket mounts, including the electric Focus mount, they replace just this part right here. Your factory bushing will be located here. Most people replace that with either a heavy duty polyurethane, or a heavier duty rubber bushing. cp-e actually moves the bushing out of this, into the upper bracket. They use their EDPM rubber, which is going to be heavy duty, not have temperature problems like some of the poly urethanes will, but also will be much stronger than the factory rubber bushing. The cp-e is a direct replacement for your factory mount and bracket, and comes with all necessary hardware for installation.
For this installation, you'll need a lift or a jack and jack stands, half inch torque wrench, three eighth wrench, nineteen millimeter half inch socket, fifteen millimeter half inch socket, fifteen millimeter three eighth socket, thirteen millimeter three eighth socket, ten inch extension, fifteen millimeter open end wrench, thirteen millimeter open end wrench, and a ten millimeter allen wrench.
You want to start by getting your Focus up in the air, and removing the front cover. Once you do that, you can locate the factory mount here. To begin the installation, we have to remove the bracket one, two, three, four, five, and an extra nut hiding behind the back. Be careful with these, once you remove the nut, washer, the sleeve...then we take the last one off, the whole piece will come down with it.
Now we're going to remove the bolt that goes from the mount to the bracket. This lower bolt here will actually remove the motor mount from the chassis. Next we can remove the bracket. You want to slide the motor mount back, give yourself a little more room. One nut here, one here, and one beneath here. Here you can see the cp-e xFlex next to the factory mount. Again, know that the factory mount uses rubber in here. The cp-e makes this solid, puts the bushings up in here, changes the geometry a little bit, which will make it a lot stronger, a lot less prone to wheel hop. You want to set it up to mimic the factory mount before we install it. There's two different sides, as you see the one side is indent, the one side isn't. You want to make sure the cp-e logo is actually facing down. Both will go through where it flush mounts on the other side, then we'll hand tighten the nut, and we'll put it up into the car.
The bracket up into place with our mount. Set it roughly where it's going to go. In the three locations we use stock hardware, but the one closest to the driver side, you want to use the supplied bolt and washer. We're not going to tighten anything down yet, until we're closer to done. You just want to get it in as far as you can thread it in by hand. Then grab one of the factory bolts for the rear. Like I said before, hand tight on everything for now. Now the motor mount bolt. Make sure you have this lined up properly. You may want to pull on the engine just a little bit, and line it up. It will thread into place. Now the factory stock bolt for the front. Careful not to cross-thread anything when you're lining these up. You cannot turn it in by hand, you probably have it cross threaded.
We're going to go through and tighten these up starting with the driver's side, then the top, then the front. Then you have a down-pipe bracket that can go back on. It can be a little tricky, we're going to have to put everything up into place kind of at the same time. Now we can tighten everything down on the bracket. Now we can move on to tightening the bolt between the bracket and the mount. You're going to torque this to eighty foot pounds. The last step is the bolt to the chassis. Again, eighty foot pound this as well. Reinstall the cover, and the installation is finished.
Now we're going to try out our cp-e xFlex mount. I should say when you start the car and you rev a little bit, there's a slight more vibration than there was before. It's a much beefier mount, that's to be expected. Definitely nothing you couldn't live with. Now let's see how it works.
