Product Questions

What is the main difference between this unit and the other with Detroit true trac? Which is better for the street?

Asked by: 68Mustang289
The Truetrac operates as a standard or open differential under normal driving conditions, allowing one wheel to spin faster or slower as necessary. When a wheel encounters a loss of traction or the terrain changes, the gear separation forces take effect and transfer torque to the high-traction wheel. The helical-shaped gears mesh with increasing force until wheel spin is slowed or completely stopped. When the vehicle exits the low traction situation, the differential resumes normal operation. Either will work for the street.

I have a 1966 Coupe with 289 and stock rear axle which needs replaced. I was wanting 4.11 ratio with posi-trac. Will this set up work? Do I need to replace the rear axles?

Asked by: trol3518
This third member will work, it takes 28 spline axles which your stock 8 inch should have.

My name is Mike and I have owned a 1968 mustang for 14 years. I currently have a stock 8 inch rear with stock gears and no posi-traction.  I was wondering if I wanted posi would all I need to buy is a third member with the 3.55 gears and install it?

Asked by: MikeyD68Stang
As long as you have a 28-spline axle, you should be good to go with this product.
