Eastwood Plasma Cutter Versa-Cut 40 is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 69.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from working good I have been going back and forth on buying a plasma cutter big brand names are just to much cannot see spending that kind of coin. I was a machinst for the past 38 years and used high dollar plasma cutters so I was a little worried on buying the Eastwood Plasma 40. I pulled the trigger 2 weeks ago and been using it on a restore of a 55 Pontiac Star Chief. I'm Very impressed with it right now should of bought one years ago cuts sheet metal and some 3/8s angle like the big brand names Good Job Eastwood

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Buy I bought this 2 years ago and its the most used piece of equipment in the shop right behind the eastwood MIG welder.... One hint, Since Eastwood no longer carries extended length tips and have never had fine point nozzles..... The Hypertherm Kaliburn SR-45i electrodes, nozzles and air diffusers will all fit the Eastwood Versacut 40. You can order them online or get them at most local welding supply shops.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nice, but.... We had this machine for a little over three years. It was used on frames and typical metal fabrication, usually with less than 1/4in steel material. It worked well...until one day it wouldn't. We changed consumables, with no result, it still didn't work. Then, we tried to get repair help with Eastwood. Except, there is no such thing. They have only consumables or very limited repair pars available, nothing in the form of circuit boards, a service center, available replacement parts...NOTHING. So, buyer beware, while this is a nice little machine when it works, if it quits on you, then you are on your own. In essence this product does not come with any kind of repair support. Eastwood will replace it under warranty, but only to the original purchaser, and with proof of purchase, even though no other firm has these products. Also, the item is not serialized by number. I had hoped that a product in this price range has some sort of repair solution behind it. But that is not the case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First time Plasma owner So far I am very happy. When I initially hooked up the Plasma Cutter there was an air leak around the regulator. I was able to fix this by reinserting the air hose that must have come loose during shipping. This is my 2nd major purchase from Eastwood (own MIG 175 Welder) and both products had problems that I could directly attribute to shipment handling. Not mentioning the company but Tom Hanks worked for them in the movie Cast Away. So far I have cut 5/16" 4" angle iron with no problem. I am using a small air compressor (Makita 3 HP motor produces 6.5 CFM at 90 psi) and I also purchased the Eastwood Disposable in-line filter and the Plasma Cutter 40 is performing well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing Little Machine I am a hobbyist and could not justify one of the name brands. But for my needs, this machine has been perfect. The first one I received did not work, however, customer service promptly replaced it and I have no trouble since. My first project required that I cut 3/4" steel, way beyond the capacity of the machine. But with a little patience and replacing a few nozzles and electrodes, it got the job done. For material within its recommended range, the cutter slices through like butter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty Cool Just got it yesterday and used it over night. I'm an auto body guy so I really doubt I'll be doing anything over 1/4in plate and this will handle it easily on 110/20A. Cut .125 square tubing last night like butter. Doubling that would be no problem for this thing. I do wish Eastwood would do a better job in the shipping dept. Never received any Emails regarding my order after I placed it. They were very courteous when I called but never really any info from them either other than you'll receive something soon. That never happened. I think they need to Dump Fed Ex... JMO !!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Boat Anchor I have been a welder since 1971. I have had terrible luck with this machine, the first rig made maybe 6" of cut in 14ga SS and burnt the torch up, it was promptly replaced, I tried to us the new torch and the machine popped circuit breakers and quit producing an arc, The machine was promptly replaced. The new machine will produce an arc for a split second , maybe. Now waiting to here back from tech.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works great... when it works... Let me start by saying i am no plasma cutter expert, but i do use industrial grade plasma cutters at my work. This was bought for my own personal use. Ill start with the negatives on this machine. The nozzle tip is too short, making it hard to see where you are cutting. Mine is VERY picky about air pressure. If the air pressure is not set right it will not re-strike. I do think there is a problem with my unit. I took it back to the store and of course it works perfectly fine for them. There is not much i can do unless this unit stops working completely. (i kind of hope it does) because it can be frustrating to use when it will not re-strike. The cut quality is pretty poor because if i turn the air pressure up past 40 it will not cut at all. The consumable life is not that great either. I have a large 60 gallon compressor and a 2 stage desiccant dryer so that should not be the problem. Although for the price it really cant be beat, no i would not buy it again but it does have a pretty good warranty. When i first got it it really worked flawlessly. I have not even had it but probably 5 months? for about twice as much you can buy a name brand comparable plasma cutter. I almost wish i would of gone that route.
