Tested against all the top competitors, Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator has proven to top the list when it comes to sunlight resistance, preventing rust creep and overall durability. In comparison to most off-the-shelf under coatings, this rubberized Rust Encapsulator from Eastwood is applied directly over the rust, stopping it dead in its tracks. Whereas other competitors’ brands leave air bubbles under their coating for rust to continually spread.

Eastwood has engineered this Rust Encapsulator with high-tech flex agents, meaning it has multiple benefits. Its pliable finish protects your Mustang's surfaces from abrasions, road hazards and deadens sound from the outside. Due to over 500 hours of salt-spray chamber testing, Eastwood can confidently stand behind their newly-redesigned Rust Encapsulator. All you have to do is simply apply directly over rust or bare metal; there is no need for a top coat.

Easy Step-By-Step Instructions:
1. Use a wire brush to remove loose rust, scale and paint. Remove all dust, grease and oil deposits from the problem area.
2. Lightly sand the surrounding paint with 220-grit sandpaper.
3. Shake the can of Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator for at least 2 minutes after the mixing ball in the can begins to rattle.
4. Apply Rust Encapsulator 10-12 inches from surface. Single coats are dry to the touch in 20 minutes, and are thoroughly dry in 3-4 hours at 68F.
5. For increased durability, a second coat can be applied one hour after the first coat. (If needed)
6. Allow 6-8 hours after the last coat before applying a top coat.

Eastwood Rust Encapsulator 15 Ounce Aerosol Can is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good lasting coverage ! This is a good encapsulator when applied correctly. As with all Eastwood Rust Encapsulator products some common sense prep is required. You just don't spray it on and walk away. For years I only used their black and then resprayed a color to finish. This white is good as it's applied. No need to spray over it unless you want a different color. I sprayed the underside of a truck hood. It is holding up well against road rash and heat. Highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I trust Eastwood products I've used the Eastwood rust encapsulator on three project cars so far; A 71 corvette, A 72 Z28 Camaro and a 67 Lemans. I like the way it applies and it seems to have great adhesion and a tough coat strength. I like the red version best because it looks like a factory finish and it's easy to see where it has been applied. Unless I have a new metal surface, I use the rust encapsulator to ensure no minor rust will spread. Very happy with the product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not impressed. I bought this product last fall and painted my door bottoms with it. Rusty areas were wire brushed and then wiped down clean with lacquer thinner and allowed to dry. The paint applied well but was thin and required dozens of coats to get a good coverage and thickness, paint was allowed to dry between coats. Once done the paint was a reasonable color match to my GM's Arctic White and I was happy with the results. Unfortunately the product does not stand up to NH winter and road treatment chemicals and by spring the rust has completely overrun the paint and is probably where it would be if I had done nothing. At this point I don't see this product being a winner in the war on rust.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I've used the black a lot and love it. The only thing I would say is different with the white is that where I could use the black as the final finish after two coats, the white is just too translucent to act as a final coat the way the black is. Plan to put paint over the top of the white encapsulator to get a truly white finish. This is exactly what you want over rust on a part which will have a light colored finish, just top it off with the paint color of your choice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Red? The product gives nice even coverage and the top coat adhered well to it. However, note that if you are expecting it to be red, it is not. It is more like brown or rust colored. See picture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great this is the 4th can and i put it on my outdoorrailing which i formerly couldnot get rustfree for more then 4month ,now the railing is through a very harsh winter here in nj and it is still as good as when i first applied it . it`s worth the price because one does not have to repaint i hope for the next couple of years. GO AND BUY THAT STUFF!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like this stuff. Have used the black version in the past, out of a can. I was very happy with the results especially since it was outside with no topcoat. However, shelf life was not infinite. Hated to waste this pricy stuff. So, I bought a spray can of the white.. Hopefully this will solve the shelf life issue. I used it on a white trailer. Went on great, sanded well for topcoat. Saved a lot of coats of primer and white paint to be able to paint white over it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from SFSG Can you figure out what sfsg refers to? ;-) I've only recently used this product so I cant comment on how well it works. I will TRY to remember to come back here after a year to comment on how well the product is performing. The product was easily applied, remember to shake the can often it makes a big difference. I did have a little trouble spraying my roof vents which required the can to be pointed downward and without shaking regularly it quit spraying paint and only sprayed air but shaking the can regularly solved that. Delivery was supersonic, I think I got it the day after I ordered. For now I'll give a 4 star rating because I dont know how well it works yet, I'll be back in Feb 2016 to update (yea thats gonna happen) ;-)
