Hi, I have a 1964 289 Mustang with factory Air and 5 blade direct drive fan. Did this car come with a viscous clutch fan as a factory option?
I don't believe it did.

I own a 1967 Mustang coupe with a 289 V8, the present fan clutch turning a 7 blade fan . Is this unit a suitable replacement for the existing fan clutch which appears to be turning at the same speed as the water pump all the time ( loud wind noise ).
This would be the replacement fan clutch for cars originally equipped with one.

What is the fan diameter? Will it fit the factory fan shroud?
The cooling fan bolts to this so it would fit the fan shroud.

What is the measured distance from the mounting surface for the fan to the disk that mounts to the water pump shaft? I changed radiators, and my current clutch has a two inch measurement, which is now to long. I only have three inches to fit a clutch/fan.
I'm not a 100% sure exactly what measurement you are looking for, but I have this: .63" (5/8") and .75" (3/4") pilot holes, 2.33" flange circle with a 3.33" overall height.

Will this fit with 390 & air conditioning when using the stock fan? The clearance is very close between the clutch drive face and the radiator! 'Standard replacement' from NAPA does not fit.
Yes, it should fit.
