When it comes to working on your Mustang, the most fun and enjoyable types of work are usually modifications that will make your car go faster, handle better or look nicer on the outside. However, any owner of a vehicle has a responsibility to make their vehicle as safe as possible for both themselves as well as everyone else. One of these responsible forms of maintenance in terms of safety is the fuel pump inertia switch.
This is a factory replacement 3-Pin Fuel Pump Inertia Switch. This part comes directly from Ford, and installs easily, without modification. The fuel pump inertia switch acts as a safety mechanism in the event of a collision. This switch will deactivate the electric fuel pump when enough force is realized to ensure that fuel is no longer being fed into the engine. This will decrease the possibility of a potential fire resulting from the collision. There is access to this switch through the trunk which will allow you to activate the fuel pump once again.
The Ford Mustang consists of thousands of different parts. Throughout every generation of the car, the Ford Motor Company has made many of their Mustang parts internally, meaning if you're looking to replace a part on your Mustang, there's no better source than the OEM parts from Ford. How would you know if the fuel pump inertia switch is bad, the red button does look pushed in, or is it the pump? My 04 GT has 83,000 and sits in the garage mostly and driven randomly until the one day it would not crank just turn over, please advise?
Where exactly is the fuel pump relay with the 5 prongs is it by passenger side fender
