Headlight Voltage Upgrade for 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973 Mustangs.Your Mustang's 40+ year old headlights are probably pumping even less power due to the corroded and worn electrical system. By installing this simple headlight voltage upgrade, headlight voltage is pulled from an alternate source, distributing the total electrical load over more wires. This kit bypasses the tired factory electrical system to provide the maximum voltage to the headlights. Supplied connectors attach to the stock connectors. A power and ground need wired making this quite the simple and fast installation.
Mount the relay in an easily accessible location but hidden for a clean appearance. The location selected should be close to the headlight high-low beam selector switch so all the wires will reach without needing to be extended. Disconnect the connector from the headlight high/low beam selector and attach it to the connector in the kit. The other side connects to the switch. Finally connect one wire to a good source of battery voltage and another wire to a ground and you are good to go. You may connect the power wire straight to the battery but you will most likely have to extend the wire and a fuse must be added. An accessory fuse panel is perfect for wiring the power wire.
- Power relay assembly
- 14 gauge female connector
- Small crimp ring
Looking for brighter headlights without the high cost? The headlight voltage upgrade kit is the perfect solution. Older Mustangs were wired with one wire that carries all the current from the battery to the fuse panel. Then, the fuse panel routes power everywhere and feeds everything. Add more resistance from corrosion that has gathered over the years and now the headlights are receiving minimal voltage. The headlight voltage upgrade kit supplies the headlights with increased power to produce increased visibility from your headlights.
