Pair of Hedman Square Port Painted Shorty Headers for 1965-1973 289/302 Mustangs.Hedman's standard-duty, uncoated headers are manufactured using 18 gauge, mandrel bent primary tubes, and 1/4" flanges. Features 1-1/2" port primaries and 2-1/2" collectors.
The factory black paint applied to uncoated hedders is not hi-temp, and is for pre-installation protection only. For the ultimate in protection against the elements, we suggest Hedman's Original HTC coating.
All Hedman street Hedders are MADE IN THE USA.

No, the drop bracket is only needed when using long tube headers.

Will this fit a 72 convertible with a 302 and automatic transmission I had problems before with different headers hitting the steering.
They will fit, though you will have to check the exhaust port on your head to see if they are square ports.

I have a 1965 289 Mustang. Will these replace the factory manifolds without modifying the exhaust system? Direct bolt in?
The front pipe that bolts to the stock manifolds will have to be modified by welding in the collectors.

Can you put hi temp coating over the factory paint or dose it need to be removed first ?
You would need to remove it since it is not a high temp finish.
