These wheel well guards are made of durable thermo-plastic to hold up to abuse on and off the road. They'll protect your wheel wells from rust, dirt, and debris. They'll add a nice finished look to the truck as well. Today, we're going to be installing them on our 2016 EcoBoost F-150.
As you can see, our F-150 has Rousch fender flares on it. The wheel wells will work with these flares, but they just have to be removed to install them. You probably don't have these on your truck, so we're not going to show you how to un- install them. We're just going to get right to the install.
These wheel well guards are super easy to install. The only tool you'll need is a Phillips screwdriver. There's four mounting locations and two of them are right here. Grab the supplied U-clips and install a U-clip over each hole.
There's two other mounting locations. One is a hole right here in the front of the wheel well, and the other is in the back of the wheel well. You actually might not need to utilize these because the install is such a tight fit, the wheel well really holds itself in place. You can't place a clip over the hole, you just have to put it on the backside and use it as a nut.
The fourth mounting location is a hole in the back of the wheel well. As you can see, a wiring harness for our fender flares is going through this hole, so we can't use. Like I said earlier, these wheel wells are such a tight fit, you probably won't even need to utilize these mounts.
The wheel well guards are labeled DS for driver's side and PS for passenger's side. We're working on the driver's side, so we're going to install the DS. Push the wheel well guard into the wheel well, like so. Now that the wheel well guard is in the wheel well, we need to get the lip of the guard behind the lip of the wheel well. Your fingertips are probably going to be a little sore after this because it's a really tight fit. Basically, just push all the plastic behind the lip. It's not that big of a deal, but we have to cut a little notch out of the guard for the wiring harness for our fender flares. Just like that.
Install your screws into the U-clips. All we have now is two of the four screws installed in the wheel well guard. As you can see, it is very well in place. It is not moving around at all. We don't really need the other two mounting points. We can't use the one in the rear of the wheel well because of our wiring harness. We'll show you how to do the front one anyway, just so you know how to do it if you want to use that mount too. Simply put a screw through the hole and take the U-clip and just thread it onto the screw on the backside. You can do the same thing on the rear mount as well, but in our case, we can't.
Now you can repeat the process on the other side, and re-install flares if you have them. You're installation is finished.
Our Husky Liners wheel well guards are installed. They look great. They give the wheel well a nice, finished look. I don't know why it didn't look like this from the factory. Installation should take about 30 minutes. Before you know it, you'll be heading down the road.
