Product Questions

Have a 67 with black metal doors. The current paint, while worn appears to have a texture to it. How do I retain or repair that texture finish. Does this Black Lacquer leave that type of finish.

Asked by: Elpasorabo
The finish is molded into the door, the paint will not affect or repair the texture. Remove as much as the old paint as possible, prep, prime and paint.

I need a couple cans of 1966 mustang red interior lacquer paint and can't find it on the site, do you have it available for order?

Asked by: Demostanger
Check out PPG (Pittsburgh, Paint and Glass) if they don't have it they will make it and better than the original but if you want it as close to the original as possible they can do that too but to me being MUSTANG guy it will never be the original paint again I would go with the new high tech stuff. PPG has A color called liquid metal red and it's absolutely beautiful.

I have stripped all of the paint off of the interior metal doors of my 1966 mustang. Should I prime them before reprinting with lacquer paint? If yes, what primer should I use?

Asked by: Harold
Wipe down part with lacquer thinner & blow dry prior to painting as it will clean surface & open up pores in plastic materials.

The color for my Mustang is "Dark Red (66)", which is a standard Mustang color. However, this color is not an option for this interior lacquer. Is the "1968 Dark Red (Semi-gloss)" a close match or the same as the '66 Dark Red color?

Asked by: Scotta
The 1966-1967 Red is correct for your 1966. You can use whichever you'd like in terms of flat or semi-gloss for the hard surfaces of your interior. You want dye for the soft surfaces.

The interior color on my Mustang is "Dark Red (66)". I don't see this color option listed. Is the "68 Dark Red" close enough? Should I use flat or semi-gloss for interior?
