Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rises to the occasion Ok, so the ORIGINAL leaf springs in the 66 are worn out. Hard to imagine. Every time we ran over a cigarette butt or a ladybug we bottomed out. The mechanic was dog-cussing me trying to get the old springs off, but didn't say anything to me about ease of installation about the new leaf springs. What a difference in ride! Stance is still good- it probably lifted the rear about 2" over the former butt-dragging situation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Buyer Beware of possible short studding I found this kit to be the best on the market especially for the price if someone is looking to remain stock and not be MCA judged. Nevertheless, the supplied front bolts were 1/2 inch shorter than the originals. I noticed it before I installed the first spring with the expectation to get at least two full threads through the nut without having to make it tighter than I wanted. I did not. Thankfully I saved my original bolts. The springs brought the car back to its original stance. CJ's online video on how to change them out was also helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Restored ride height right where I wanted. Great affordable kit for replacing sagging springs. Ride height is right where I wanted after settling. Maybe just a little stiffer than stock but only have a few miles on them and have not driven with more than me and one passenger in the car. If you often drive with four people in your car, you may want a stiffer spring. I was one of the lucky ones to get the old springs out easily. This new leaf spring kit bolted right up with no issues.

After cutting my old springs out, it only took about 30 minutes to an hour to put the springs in. The kit fit perfectly and my back end sits a couple of inches taller. I highly recommend this kit

will these raise the rear end of my 66 mustang?

These are to restore the rear suspension to the original ride height, if your car still has the original leaf springs it is probably sagging so these will most likely raise the rear.

The OEM spring rate for a 65 "GT" Coupe is different than a standard 65 Mustang Coupe. Will these meet my requirement for a 4 leaf spring?

These will work on any 1965, but they are not built to the exact specifications/spring rate of the 1965 GT. We do offer specific springs that are quite a step up in price compared to these generic fitment springs.

The springs will work but you would need the u-bolts and spring plates for the 9 inch rear.

Would these work on a 65 mustang with a 6 cylinder? Will the rear be the same hight as it was factory with these springs?

Yes this kit will work to replace the original six cylinder leaf springs. These are the original style replacement springs so it will be the same ride height as it was originally.

By Bill Tumas: We're here with our replacement leaf spring kit for 1964 through 1966 Mustang Coupe, Convertible, and Fastback. Our leaf spring kit is going to come with everything you need to replace that common rear suspension sag found in early Mustangs. Our kit comes with two ready to install stock rate replacement leaf springs, a pair of rubber shackles, brand new front bolts, and correct width U-bolts.

This is our replacement leaf spring kit installed on a 1965 Mustang Coupe. You can see the new front bolts installed here. Many times originals rust and you can simply cut them off to remove them. Our leaf springs come with the bushing pre-installed, simply put it in place and bolt it in.

Here you can see the U-bolt kit installed to the rear shock plate over the rear. Our kit comes with the correct U-bolts for the tapered rear on the '64 through '66 cars. The shock plate's not included with the kit, but we do offer them if you need them.

Here you can see the rubber shackles installed. They install just like the factory ones, one piece goes through your frame rail and the other one bolts through the leaf spring. Our replacement leaf spring kit is not only going to give your car the correct ride height, it's also going to improve your ride quality as well.
