MBRP 3" Polished Stainless Steel Off-Road Downpipe for all 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 Focus STs.

Increase exhaust flow right off the turbo with a 3" MBRP downpipe on your 2013-2017 Focus ST. Constructed from T304 stainless steel, the downpipe is then polished for a great shine under your car. 16-gauge mandrel bent piping keeps exhaust flow smooth with no interruptions. A 4" flex coupling is lined for superior flow and longer life. The absence of a catalytic converter means absolutely nothing will get in the way of the exhaust flow. The MBRP downpipe is a direct fit with the stock Focus ST exhaust. All factory mounting points are retained for a simple bolt-on installation. An extension pipe is included to fit the downpipe to any of the MBRP cat-back exhaust systems. Includes all necessary hardware.

An MBRP downpipe opens up the exhaust by replacing the restrictive stock downpipe. Higher horsepower numbers are accompanied by a much more aggressive sound. MBRP downpipes are precision tuned to deliver all the power your 2.0L EcoBoost has to offer. Pair the downpipe with an MBRP cat-back for the ultimate sound and performance.

Each exhaust part is designed with the lowest bend degree angles and smooth mandrel bends so exhaust gasses have an easier exit path. This creates faster moving exhaust gasses, reduces exhaust gas temperatures and flows much better than the stock exhaust. my 2016 focus is stock. Im thinking of buying a bola exhaust and then this down pipe. If i were to buy a cobb access port would i be able to get everything running smoothy? basically would I be able to clear the engine light that would come on?

I'm ready to buy this downpipe but I have a few final questions before I do. Are there any negative side affects that will harm the motor by not getting a tune after installing the downpipe other than the CEL light being tripped?

By Bill Tumas: So far, we're real happy with the performance we've got in from the bolt in changes we've done to our Focus ST. We're currently running a COBB tune along with a COBB cold air intake, a Vortec front mount intercooler, and a Borla exhaust system. The last restriction of horse power with our factory parts is going to be the down pipe. The down pipe is the gateway from your turbo to your Cat Back exhaust system. A high flow down pipe will allow the turbo to work more efficiently and make more power. Today we're going to move our factory down pipe and replace with this off road down pipe from MBRP.

Since we're not worried about emissions, we wanted the highest flow possible, which is why we chose the off road version, here, which is not included catalytic converter. It's going to be just a straight pipe down. It's a three inch T304 stainless steel with this 4 inch coupler. It includes the down pipe itself, a new gasket, mounting hardware, and this extension pipe, here, which will work if you're running an MBRP exhaust system. If you're running a stock or other after market system, you will not need this.

Before we get started, we'll fire it up with this stock down pipe with our Borla Cat Back.

For this installation, you'll need a lift or a jack and jack stands, 3/8 ratchet, 17 millimeter socket, 13 millimeter socket, 10 millimeter socket, T30 Torx bit, 12 inch extension, 15 millimeter wrench, 13 millimeter wrench, oxygen sensor or 7/8 wrench, anti-seize, and safety glasses.

We're going to start the installation of our MBRP down pipe under our hood by disconnecting the oxygen sensors. There's two ways to do this. We found coming in from the top usually you can get one, if not both plugs. If you can't, you can get them from the bottom, but there's a lot less room, especially with the pipe in the way. We're going to try to get them off from the top.

You'll want to move your sound symposer tube, disconnect that, and pull that out of the way first. This harness right here is a little clip back here. Remove that as well, give us a little more room. Push that up out of the way. Then, get your arm back in there.

We'll start off by disconnecting our Cat Back from our factory down pipe. Moving forward, disconnect the factory hanger bracket from the cross member. Next, we got to separate the down pipe from the turbo and from the factory mounting bracket up front. To do so , you'll want to remove the splash pan that's usually in the way by removing the T30 Torx bolts, then you can get up to the down pipe. Start with the two lower nuts on the bracket. If you're considering doing a rear engine mount, this is an excellent time to do it when you're doing the down pipe. The mount is right here. Basically, you got remove all this stuff to get to it anyway. It's a perfect time to change it out.

Now, remove the two nuts that hold the down pipe to the bracket. Remove the nuts, the insert, and the plate. You can try to get the bracket off. Sometimes, you can get enough play up here that it will come off. Other times, you got to remove the down pipe first. Ours is on there pretty good, so we'll loosen up the down pipe and the bracket will come out with it. Now, we'll loosen the [clamp 00:04:06] that holds it to the turbo. Normally, the clamps simply going to come off. In our case though, it got stuck between the turbo and the down pipe. You'll just have to work with a hammer or pry bar to get it off. There we go.

Now we can remove the bracket. Now you got to sort of wrestle this out of here. This can sometimes be one of the tougher parts to get this thing out. You can see a side-by-side comparison between our stock down pipe versus our MBRP. You obviously see, first of all, the tubing if much larger. Plus, the bends are much better. You can see a nice restriction down here. Much smoother here. Definitely going to smooth up some power, especially by eliminating the catalytic converter.

We'll remove our oxygen sensors over to our new down pipe. Put a little anti-seize on. Then, we're actually going to install it in the same location on our new pipe. This will be the upstream. We'll do the same thing with the down stream. Then, your down pipe's ready to install.

Before we put it up into place, you'll want to install the gasket between the pipe and the turbo, as well as the lower bracket. There's little nubs on this that will hold it in place. You just press it over and we're ready to put it up into place. You want to make sure you careful of the oxygen sensors. You'll reuse the factory V-band clamp. We're going to put the bolts into the rear bracket, which will help up line up the down pipe with our turbo. Now, we can reinstall the factory bracket. Now we'll install the factory plate and spacers using the supplied hardware.

Now we'll connect our new down pipe to our Cat Back. Then, fish the oxygen sensors up. Again, move the lines out of the way, here, so we can get in there and reattach them. We'll get the sensors mounted, reconnect this harness. This little plastic clip goes in the metal piece back here. Reinstall our sound symposer tube if you still have it. Our installation's finished.

Before you take your Focus for a test drive after a down pipe install, we suggest loading a new tune. Even if you go with a Catted version, the efficiency of the catalytic will most likely trip a engine light. If you go with an and off road version like ours, it's definitely going to trip it, so you'll want to tune it properly before you take it for a drive.

Now that we have the proper tune loaded, let's see how it sounds. IT noticeably louder than it was than with he stock down pipe, but to be honest, it's not as loud as I thought it was going to be. It sounds really good with he Borla, with our MBRP Cat-less down pipe.

The MBRP down pipe gave our Focus a nice aggressive tone without being overly loud. The piece fits well, so installation should only take you around an hour and half. Next time out, we'll get our ST back on the Dino. Now we've got full bolt-ons, we'll see what kinds of power it's making.
