Getting Ready for the 2015 MustangBy far the most exciting news for Mustang lovers was the announcement of the upcoming 2015 Mustang, an all-new model set to celebrate the brand’s 50th anniversary. While it won’t be until this fall that the 2015 is available in showrooms, the car was recently unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, and our first impressions have made us even more enthusiastic for its retail launch. Here’s what we know so far about the new pony car:
Engines: At the heart of every Mustang is a great engine, and 2015 drivers will have a wider range of options than perhaps ever before. Of course, the flagship GT will be equipped with a big block V8, in this case a 5.0L based on Ford’s popular Coyote platform. The base model will once again sport a 3.7 V6, but in between the two is where things get interesting — the mid range model will be powered by a turbocharged four cylinder outputting over 300 hp. Originally designed to appeal to the European and Asian markets, Ford is hoping the 2.3L Mustang with EcoBoost technology will be a big hit with fuel-conscious Americans, as well.
Style: Breaking from the retro-inspired design cues that have dominated the past decade of Mustangs, the 2015 features a redesigned exterior that both breaks with the past while echoing back to the brand’s fastback heritage. Inside, the clean, minimalistic cockpit is a new look for the brand. With available MyFord Sync technology, the 2015 promises to integrate easily with mobile and tablet devices.
Suspension: The biggest news out of Detroit — an announcement that has been rumored for years — is that the 2015 will finally be equipped with an independent rear suspension. IRS is expected to deliver significant handling improvements as well as an overall stiffer feel, making it more competitive with other American muscle cars that have been offering this feature for some time.
Aftermarket parts: A great Mustang demands great aftermarket parts. When the 2015 is finally made available to the public, CJ Pony Parts will be your best source for 2015 Mustang parts in Modesto. Keep checking back, or follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest updates as we get closer to the new car’s fall release date.
