1. To start installing your new Mustang radiator bypass hose, let the engine cool completely before you begin work. Remove the radiator cap. Place the container under the radiator drain which is on the left side of the lower tank. Drain the coolant into the container. Close the drain and set the coolant aside.

2. Loosen both Mustang hose clamps. Most band clamps can be loosened with a slotted screw driver, but some may require a wrench or a socket. Pull the hose off the thermostat housing and the water pump. If the hose doesn’t come of easily, use a screw driver to pry it off or use a knife to cut it free.

3. Test fit the new hose. Most Mustang radiator hoses are made over-length, you may have to trim an inch or more from both ends for a good kink free fit. Once you are satisfied with the fit, replace the clamps and tighten them making sure they are oriented in a direction that allows room for the clamp head and your screw driver. Also make sure the clamps are beyond the rib that helps hold the hose on.

4. Consider replacing heater hoses, and thermostat before replacing the coolant. Refill the radiator with coolant. If you choose not to reuse the coolant you drained, make sure you dispose of it properly. Start engine and check for leaks. After the engine has reached operating temperature, shut it off and let it cool, then recheck coolant. The installation of your Mustang radiator bypass hose is now complete.
