Mustang Front Valance (1969) Installation Instructions

  • Hammer Dolley & Cutters
  • 4-inch Sander
  • Socket Wrench
  • 3/8-inch, 7/16-inch Sockets
  • 3/8-inch, 7/16-inch Wrenches
  • Phillips Head Screw Driver

1. To start the installation of your new Mustang Front Valance, take pictures of original valance in place. Note the fit to the fender well and headlight castings. Note the location of all bolts. The pictures will be a great reference later.

2. Loosen the nuts, remove the bolts and remove the old valance, then install the new valance and check the fit. It is wise to order the new Mustang front valance mounting kit, which includes bolt clips and bolts. This makes the new install much easier. Be sure turn signal lights will mount properly and any other bolted locations. The valance will have 7/16-inch or 3/8-inch speed nuts on the side marker lights. The front connections will be 7/16-inch as well as the valance to fender corner bolts.

3. Once the fit of your Mustang valance is good, remove it and block it with 400 grit paper to find any highs or lows that may need filled. Fix as needed.

4. Apply a Mustang epoxy primer.
5. Once that is dry, apply another three coats of the Mustang primer.

6. Refit your new Mustang Front Valance to the car, align all edges, and attach it, then you're done!
