1. To start installing your new Mustang Scott Drake C6ZE-8260/86-B radiator hoses, let the engine cool completely before you begin work. Remove the radiator cap. Place the container under the radiator drain which is on the left side of the lower tank. Drain the coolant into the container. Close the drain and set the coolant aside.

2. Loosen all four Mustang hose clamps. Most band clamps can be loosened with a slotted screw driver, but some may require a wrench or a socket. The lower should still have some coolant, so be prepared for a spill. Slip the lower hose off of the radiator and the water pump. If the hose doesn’t come of easily, use a screw driver to pry it off or use a knife to cut it free. Repeat this procedure for the top hose.

3. Test fit the new Mustang hoses. The top hose is the “S” shaped one, the bottom hose is “L” shaped and should have a coil spring inside it to keep it from collapsing. The ends that attach to the radiator are marked “RAD”. Most hoses are made over-length, you may have to trim an inch or more from both ends for a good kink free fit. Once you are satisfied with the fit, replace the clamps and tighten them making sure they are oriented in a direction that allows room for the clamp head and your screw driver. Also make sure the clamps are beyond the rib that helps hold the hose on.

4. Consider replacing heater hoses, and thermostat before replacing the coolant. Refill the radiator with coolant. If you choose not to reuse the coolant you drained, make sure you dispose of it properly. Start engine and check for leaks. After the engine has reached operating temperature, shut it off and let it cool, then recheck coolant. The installation of your Mustang Scott Drake radiator hoses is now complete.
