Ford Mustang Ignition Switches

The Mustang ignition switch is a fairly simple assembly that can serve a few functions within your Mustang, depending upon how it is set. The Mustang ignition switch is operated by the keys and has several different settings depending on how you turn the key. One position on the Mustang ignition switch will just trigger the Mustang battery to operate the electrical accessories, like the radio. In another position, the Mustang ignition switch adds the fans, so you can have heat or air conditioning. Another position triggers the Mustang starter & starter solenoid to begin the process of starting your Mustang. Once the engine has caught, you move the key within the Mustang ignition switch into a “run” position, which stops the starter from doing it's work and allows the Mustang to run on it's on. Finally, once you're done running your Mustang, the Mustang ignition switch has an “off” position, where everything is completely off and you can remove the key.

In many classic Mustangs, the Mustang ignition switch easily fails, as they are prone to fall back into the “off” position from the “run” position, which will automatically shut off the Mustang engine and quickly leave you stopped in your tracks until you get your 1964-1973 Mustang started again. Unfortunately, these problems with Mustang ignition switches can repeat themselves many times in a trip, especially if yours is badly broken. However, since Mustang Ignition Switches are pretty simple to replace, these problems aren't ones that you have to deal with for a long time. CJ Pony Parts offers many Mustang ignition switches for classic Mustangs, so you can easily find high quality reproductions or aftermarket units, which will make your Mustang ignition switch feel like it's in a new Mustang, and insure that your Mustang stays running when you're rolling down the road.
