The NT555 G2 Tire is the new generation of ultra-high performance summer tires. Nitto has developed these tires with a focus on performance driving. The improved traction, handling and wet-braking capabilities will ensure that this tire performs the way you want in the straights, off the line and throughout hard turns.

The large tread blocks on the NT555 G2 Tire will offer improved traction for the rear tires of vehicles with staggered fitments and higher horsepower applications. Tire sizes with 275mm and greater section width have larger tread blocks in comparison to tires with 265mm and narrower section width. The twin center ribs will improve dry traction and straight-line stability. The large tapered blocks on this tire will increase grip performance and offer enhanced cornering stability.

Circumferential grooves are found in the center and shoulder of the tire and ensure precise water evacuation, improving wet handling. The reinforced shoulder tread blocks on the Nitto NT555 G2 Tires will enhance both dry and wet cornering grip. Lastly, a unique bonding agent improves the interaction between all the compound elements to reinforce bonds for higher compound rigidity during cornering, resulting in enhanced handling capabilities in both wet and dry conditions.

Nitto Tire North America is a world-renowned manufacturer of aftermarket performance-grade tires for daily drivers and drag racers alike. Nitto Tire NT555 G2 Series Ultra High Performance Street Radial is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from NT555 G2 Worth it? I have the Performance package Gt Mustang and yes you have to pre-order them. The wait is worth it. Overall stance look better than the Pirelles. The tires in the picture are from the rear 275/40zrR19 105w with the performance package wheel. There is no stretching tire or an unconvertible ride. They are directional. Price point was ok. Wet driving a lot better traction even in high watery area.

Product Questions

Will the 305 fit a 10 inch wide wheel? If not, is there any other 305 tires you would recommend that would fit?

Asked by: rodrigorkb
The 305/30-20 tire is not recommended to be used with a 10" wide wheel. Nitto recommends a 10.5"-11.5" wide wheel to be used with the 305/30-20 tire with the ideal width being 11".

What is the difference between this one and nt555r? Wich one is better for daily use street driver and ocassional drag rice like one weekend per month?

Asked by: Rluna
The NT555R is a drag tire that can see some street use. The NT555 G2 is a street tire that would be ok at the track once and a while. You have to ask yourself if you want a better street tire or drag tire, there is no best of both worlds.

My eccoboost mustang has 265/35/20" all around. Should I go with the 275/35 or 255/35 or 275rear 255 front? Rims are 20x10 factory rims.

Asked by: ScottyKnew
You could go either way. With our setups that we run 20x10 all around, we usually run 275/35-20 at all four corners.

Whats the expected tread life of these? The first gen NT555 lasted about 40-45,000 miles. I then went to Mickey Thompson Street Comps and they lasted like 12,000 miles.

Asked by: DallasStang
It would be about the same as the first gen but it all depends on driving habits and tire pressure.

Nitto Tire NT555 G2 Series Ultra High Performance Street Radial Video Transcript
By Bill Tumas: If you've been around Mustangs long enough, at some point in time, you've probably owned a Nitto NT555 tire. The 555's have always been a favorite because it has good wet and dry traction, they wear really well, they're good at cornering, good at braking, and best of all, they have a really attractive price point.

The NT555 has been around for quite a long time now, and Nitto's ready to launch their next generation tire. This is the NT555 G2. The 555 G2, just like the 555, is a summer directional, ultra-high performance tire designed for sports cars, muscle cars, stuff like that. You can see the tread is kind of similar to the old 555, but everything has been redone, and it's a much more advanced technology.

We'll start off with the basics. The 555 G2 is going to replace the 555, so all the sizes you've come to be familiar with are going to be available in the G2 as well. Going with the basics first. The tread-wear rating went from 300 to 320, so you have an actually better rating with the G2. Traction also increased from an A rating in the 555 to a double A, which is the highest rating you can get, for the new G2, while the temperature stayed the same with an A, which is a top rating.

Now, we'll take a closer look at the actual tread on the G2. The first thing you'll notice is much larger tread blocks than in previous years, going to create more traction. You'll also have the twin center stripes here, very similar to the Endo Tire, do a great job for straight line traction and straight line stability at higher speeds. There's also a lot more reinforcement on the shoulders, which will work great for both wet and dry traction, see much larger grooves in the tire for getting water off the tire, again, much better for wet performance.

Like I said before, I've always been a fan of the 555 tire. I recently picked up this killer set of custom Rovos Durban wheels for my car. When I picked them up, the G2 was my obvious tire choice. I'm running a 255/35/20 in the front, and a 275/35/20 in the rear, which fit beautifully on my staggered Durbans. The Nitto NT555 G2's are going to be available in a variety of sizes, we'll have plenty of tire packages available for different years. We're also going to have some killer wheel and tire packages, including set ups with the Rovos Durban. With the cold roads here in PA, I haven't had a chance to put too many miles on my G2's yet, but so far, they're nice and quiet and they feel really good even on the cold roads. Once it gets warm out, we'll definitely do a full in-depth driving review of the 555 G2.
