Parking Brake Assembly 1965-1966 is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from This is not a perfect fit! Like most after market parts there is fitment issues. First you have to drive out the roll pin so that you can feed the parking cable into the keeper. The mounting studs at the base of the brake assembly do not match the fire wall hole spacing. they are off about a 1/4" so I have to grind the firewall holes outward so that I can get the studs to fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from just like my old one this was easy to install and works perfect. the handle was broke on my old one and it would not lock into place when pulled out. i did have to find new bolts for under the dash, my old ones were a different thread and would not fit (check before installing, this came with the nuts in the bracket but no bolts to fit them). Parking brake works great now.

Product Questions

Why does the steel handle shaft have that extra notch up close to the handle? It doesn't let the handle seat all the way when installed.

Asked by: emanualshift
Ford designed that notch to prevent the handle from going too far under the dash. If it went all the way the handle could be out of the driver's reach during an emergency.

Asked by: mustangtyson
No, it's not. We don't offer that Scott Drake part.

Parking Brake Assembly 1965-1966 Video Transcript
By Bill Tumas: We're here with a replacement parking brake assembly for your 1964 through 1966 Mustang. This parking brake assembly is a factory replacement for the original found on the '64 through '66 Mustang. It operates in exactly the same fashion; just pull back on the handle to engage, twist and push in to disengage. It includes the handle, the body, both mounting brackets, as well as the pulley. We also offer a complete set of parking cable kits to go along with our parking brake assembly.
