Whoops!

Should have been a 1-star rating. Am hooking up Kenwood module and some extra amps to see of the look can co-exist with quality sound.

GOOD LOOKING RADIO!

1965 Mustang - USA66 Review

2 Stars

On 11/19/2012 12:00:00 AM, Scott from OR

Ordered despite all the bad reviews here and over the internet cause I wanted the original look with great sound. My plan was to install the USA66 in the dash and add a 400 watt amplifier hidden in the trunk, a set of hidden 6x9 Speakers under the rear deck cover, a pair of 8” woofers behind the rear seat facing forward, two round speakers in the kick panel (panels made for speakers, without cutting the car) and replace the dash speaker with a small tweeter and midrange (all high end Alpine components) for a nearly hidden kick butt rocking stereo running my IPod through the USA66. I had everything Professionally installed. In my opinion the USA66 is all show (the look of the unit is very nice and looks awesome in the dash) and no go. It sounded like crap when slightly turned up, finding a station and having it stay on a station is nearly impossible, the Ipod feature works when it wants too (about 70% of the time). The Stereo Shop could not get this USA66 to perform or sound good for anything other than AM

Poor sound, poor quality, avoid it!

Never did sound very good, the tuner is awful! Almost impossible to find a station or to know where you are on the dial and then it drifts. Now (just out of warranty) it shuts off after 10-15 minutes of use.

very poor sound, very cheaply made, plug in back fits loose looses connection, can't see orange tuner bar through face, would return but bought it a year ago. the guys that gave this a good revue must not get out much!

despite the handful reviews i read on here i got one because 3 guys in my club have them and havent had any problems. i used custom autosound in a truck i did and it still works and its 12 years old. i'm happy with the radio, it fit right, looks right and sounds good. i also got the kickpanels, and the dual voice coil speaker. its a great set up imo.

Perfect Radio

Bought this radio expecting it to work great but not fit and look original. I was WRONG It looks and works great. It mounted in dash and fits like an original radio and works a lot better than anything I could have bought at any sterio store. Would recomend to anyone.

Crappy Radio at a Premium Price

Tuner is awful. Slowly shifts stations, dial and acual station don't line up well, lack of presets makes it worse. Had a couple of times radio just cut out and wouldn't put out any sound until I turned it off and waited. An extra $125 for and IPOD cable? Don't bother buying this. Have an original radio restored or just go with a aftermarket one.

Nothin' but static

Agreed. Poor reception, tinny sound, and cheap knobs make this a no-go for me.

Radio looks and plays very good in my '66 Mustang. I like the retro look of it. One problem I had with radio: it blew an in-line fuse. The fuse was discovered to be only one amp. Replaced it with a 15 amp fuse. Now radio plays without any problems.

nice radio
