Mustang License Plate Bracket STO N SHO Roush 2013-2014
STO N SHO License Plate Bracket for 2013-2014 Roush Mustangs.
Do you despise how a front license plate takes away from the look of your car? Not to fear, we have the perfect item for you. The STO N SHO is an aftermarket detachable front license plate bracket mounting system that is designed for those cars whose appearance would be ruined by use of the factory mounting location. Stay in compliance with state law by simply STOing your front license plate when you want to SHO the beauty of your car. Then, reinstall once you are ready to hit the road.
The STO N SHO is a two-piece detachable mounting system consisting of a front license plate holder and a base mounting plate. Removal and installation of the license plate is extremely easy requiring only the pull of a pin. When the front license plate holder is removed, the base plate is virtually undetectable.
Both plates are precision laser cut and hand burnished. Each tube and rod is machine cut and hand cleaned. After being expertly hand welded and drilled, the parts are assembled and sent to the finishers where the welds are ground smooth. Once the high quality automotive trim black paint is applied, the product is tested to ensure proper operation. A lot of time and work goes into each STO N SHO to ensure you receive a quality part. Manufactured in the USA using quality materials and parts!
Please note: If you have changed your front bumper, be sure to order a kit that fits the new bumper. For example, if you put a Boss 302 valance on a 2010-2012 GT, you will want a Boss 302 license plate bracket.
Ford's design team put a lot of effort into making the front end of the new Mustang look as aggressive as possible, yet they really never came up with a good solution for mounting a front license plate. If you live in one of those states that requires a front plate, that means you either have to drill some ugly holes in your bumper cover or risk the fines associated without running a plate. If neither of these options seems like a good idea to you this STO N SHO license plate bracket might be the solution you're looking for.
The STO N SHO is a two piece bracket that mounts underneath your front bumper cover allowing you to run your front plate without drilling holes in the cover itself. If you’re taking it to your local cruise night, drag race, or car show you can simply pull this pin and you can remove the plate and stow it away until after the show. For this installation you'll need a T15 Torx bit, 4 mm Allen key, ¼” ratchet, 7 mm socket, 10 mm socket, 11 mm socket, a drill with a ¼” drill bit, and safety glasses.
The lower bracket is going to mount underneath your front valance using the factory screw locations and the hardware provided with the STO N SHO. Make sure you remove the two that are in the center. The bracket is going to install with these provided spacers using the hardware they give you with the kit. You want to make sure that the pull tab is on the driver's side when you install it so it fits properly.
Put the screw through the spacer and just give it a couple of threads to get it started. Once it holds in place we'll do the same thing with the other side. Now we can tighten them up. These two screws hold the bracket pretty tight. There's a third hole in the back for additional support if you want to install it. The hardware included with the kit has a bolt for this. You have to drill a ¼” hole and install the bolt from the bottom.
Once you put the bolt through the bracket from the bottom you have to get a nut in for the top. Depending on your grill you might be able to reach through the lower grill. In our case with our Roush grill, that's not going to happen. We're going to pull the splash shield off the back and reach up from the inside.
You're not going to have to remove all the rear screws. Just remove the first three or four so you can reach your arm up inside. Now we'll pull the splash shield down, reach up inside, and put the bolt in from the bottom. We'll reinstall our splash shield screws that we removed. Once you have the lower bracket installed you’ll put your license plate onto your upper bracket using the provided hardware. Line it up and release the pin, slide it in, and it locks in place.
If I had to run a plate on the front of my Mustang, this is the way I'd want to do it. It removes easily for shows or racing. Installation is only going to take you about 20 minutes, so you’ll be back on the road in no time.
