Borgeson Power Steering Conversion Kit 289 1965-1966
Product Description
Borgeson Power Steering Conversion Kit for 1965-1966 289 Mustangs.Upgrade your Mustang's manual steering to power steering with this quality power steering conversion kit from Borgeson! Borgeson's steering box integrates the power assist into the assembly, allowing you to eliminate the power steering control valve and slave cylinder. The stock power steering system is notorious for leaks and providing a vague and over-boosted steering feel.
This kit features a sporty 16:1 ratio re-manufactured modern integral power steering gear box that provides benefits over a traditional rack & pinion conversion, while still offering a similar steering feel and an original look. Each box is carefully assembled, adjusted and inspected to standards that surpass OEM. Does not increase the turning radius like most rack & pinion kits.
Installs easily with simple hand tools and without removing the engine. Includes all necessary components for the conversion. Features a 3 year manufacturer's warranty on the steering box.
Includes:
-Saginaw power steering pump with mounting brackets
-Power steering box
-Power steering hoses
-Steering coupler
-Replacement steering column shaft with floor mount
*Will require a 2-groove crank pulley (not included).
*Will also fit 1967 Mustangs with a 1" sector shaft.
*Will NOT work with factory z-bar clutch linkage. Must use Borgeson's z-bar if you are using the factory clutch linkage.
*If you want to add headers to your 289/302 with Borgeson Power Steering our shop recommends using Tri-Y headers. Larger diameter headers may have clearance issues.

This is a great solid company which offers quality equipment and outstanding customer service. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking at doing the power steer conversion.
Great addition to my 66 Mustang! Huge difference from the original non-power steering. Only issue I ran into was finding the correct 6-groove serpentine pulley for the Saginaw pump included. After finding the pulley, everything else was a breeze.
I read good things about this kit online and I loved the concept of it. I thought the installation was fairly straightforward and all the necessary parts came with the kit. I have only driven about 50 miles but the bump steer is pretty bad. I have the Pro Motorsports Bump Steer Kit installed but it's still a challenge to keep it headed straight on a bumpy road. The challenge is amplified by the lack of feel/feedback at the steering wheel. I plan to take it back to the alignment shop before I drive anywhere else. It's also a pain when parking sometimes because the power assist isn't assisting with my engine at idle speed. I didn't expect my steering to feel like my M3 but it doesn't feel like a $1K improvement from my stock manual setup either.
this kit is great my mustang drives awesome steering is tight and very easy now, well worth the money recommend to all
great kit easy to install and works great on my 66 mustang
