I bought this back in August of 2011 for my 2011 Silver GT/CS. Finally got the nerve to install it a few weeks ago. It came out great! I love seeing this scoop from behind the wheel. Now my 2011 Mustang has ram air to match my ’71 with ram air. It is intimidating to cut into the hood, but if I did it, anyone with an inkling of mechanical prowess should be able to install this item. Just make sure the measurements are correct and take your time making the cut in the hood. Here are 3 tips: 1) Somehow mask the entire hood so that the metal shavings stay off the paint, 2) Add extra layers of tape along the cut line (as recommended by CDC) so the saw does not scratch the hood, and 3) Before applying the upper trim ring to the hood with the adhesive, make sure the rivet holes line up with the lower trim ring to avoid having to drill new holes.
I didn't want a fake hood scoop. I had a 70 Mach 1 when I was a teenager. It takes some nerve to cut a hole in a 2012 hood but take your time and it will be great. Doesn't shake much because the 5.0 is so smooth. Just a little on start up. trying to upload a pix but can't get it done for some reason.
