Mustang Scott Drake Sequential Taillight Kit Programmable 2005-2009

Easily add style to your Mustang or Shelby with this easy to install sequential taillight kit from Scott Drake. This kit includes two complete harnesses to replace your stock ones with no cutting or splicing required. Features five programmable settings so you can customize your look.
The includes two plug and play harnesses, as well as detailed instructions. The harnesses are not side specific, but are numerically numbered for proper installation. This switch here is unique to Drake Muscle Cars and allows for six different sequencing options.
For this installation, we’ll need a quarter inch ratchet, 11 mm deep socket and a small pick. The installation requires us to pull the taillight bodies off of the car. The first step is to remove these plastic trim panels from inside the trunk. Start by unthreading this one here. To pop these clips out, we need a small pick. Pull up and put the panel aside. Now you want to disconnect the taillight harness by pushing down on the clip and simply sliding it upward. Now, were going to remove the three retaining nuts that hold the taillight to the body. Now we’re going to push the harness through down here. We carefully push against the studs of the taillights and remove our taillight.
Once you have your taillight out, we’re going to remove the factory harness. Turn the bulbs to release them. Now were going to move the bulbs over to the new harness. The sockets are numbered, so they sequence properly. One’s going to be on the inside, two, then three will be on the outside. Now we’re ready to reinstall our light. You’re going to reinstall the same way you took it out. Fish the harness through first. You want to make sure you get the harness pushed through and seated before you put the taillight up into place. Now we’re going to reinstall the retaining nuts. Make them snug; you don’t want to crank to tight on them. Now we’re going to want to plug our harness back into the original wiring.
Once you plug in the harness, you can turn on the hazard lights to check our lighting. This is going to be the default sequence out-of-the-box. If you want to make a change, you simply change the dipswitch location on the harness itself. The instructions come with a detailed diagram showing you, which switches do what.
Once you’ve tested your light, you’re ready to reinstall your trunk trim panel and your installation is complete. The adjustability of our Drake Muscle Car Sequential Taillight Kit gives our ‘06 a really unique look with the lights turned on. Installation should take you no more than a half an hour; you’ll be back on the road in no time.

Review of Drake Adjustable Sequential Tail Light Kit & Install
I was looking for a sequential tail light kit as part of my improvement projects on my 2006 coupe. I have been working through my “Weekend Projects for Your Mustang 2005-Today, by Dan Sanchez, and Drew Phillips”. In their book, they outline one of the simple projects - an install of a sequential tail light kit. When Black Friday hit, I decided to give this Drake programmable kit a go. I had three reasons – the price point was appealing, no splicing was involved, and the idea of a programmable sequence that can be changed by me to blink the way I wanted was intriguing. If you have those programmable twinkle Christmas lights on your tree, this kit is for you. A couple of items related to the install; in the instructions, when you remove and install the bulbs, you really need to push hard to get them to click into the bulb sockets. I didn’t the first time and had only a couple of my bulbs light-up. Out the bezels came again; I pushed in the bulbs harder to snap them correctly in the bases to make contac
Product quality
I have loved the sequential turn signals since the first Cougers. I recently bought a kit for my wifes 2007 convertible. It was so easy to install and the results were better than I had hoped. An extra bonus to us was the fact that they sequence out then stay on for the brakes and they sequence out together for hazard lights thus adding an even greater safety measure by being more visible. They make for a real eye catcher. Thank you Scott Drake Products and CJ Pony for carrying them and the fast shipping.
If I can do it anyone can
Was originally going to have CJ Pony Parts install for me ,but had to replace a taillight bulb in the meantime and saw how easy it was. You just need to take your time. For the cost of $6 for a pair of new bulbs just bought all new, so I shouldn't have to change any for awhile. Read all the other reviews here as they are helpful along with the simple instructions from the manufacturer. The look is worth the price!
Product was everything as observed by others. Tail light bulbs did need some encouragement for installation. I have the Shaker 1000 sound system on this 2008. The speakers and amplifiers had to be removed to remove the taillight lens. I replaced some permatex form-a-gasket seal on each stud on the tail light lens. The original seal looked tired. The installation took two hours, take your time and it is an easy project.
Great Product!
This kit is truly plug-and-play. I love the fact you can program it too. The best part about this product though is that when I hit the brakes now, all of my brake lights light up rather than just the middle and outer lights which to me, looks odd. One thing to remember, is definitely use rubber/latex gloves when handling the bulbs. I forgot and had a few go out on me in a couple days.
great product
install was pretty straight forward but getting the bulbs into the sockets was a bit of a pain. had to pry the tabs open with a flat screwdriver. other than that it looks amazing.
Sequential Directional Kit
I am a 63 year old grandmother with mild arthritis in my hands. The only car maintenence I know is how to check my oil and tire pressure. Since 1966 I have loved the sequential directional signals. I purchased my 2009 Mustang new, then 2010 Mustangs had sequential directionals. Recently it occured to me to look for a kit for my Mustang. I was so excited to get my kit, I installed it right away. Your directions were excellent, and I only need help on two things, because I did not have the hand strength to complete the step.
This is a great product and I am glad I purchased the programable one instead of the regular sequential one. Very easy to install and I had both sides done in 1/2 hour. The only thing that was incorrect on the instructions was I did not need a T30 socket but I did need a 13MM for the bolt. Looks and works great and is a sure head turner. I highly reccomend this product.
