Rod & Custom Motorsports is a small based company that focuses on suspension upgrades for classic Fords, like the first generation Mustang. Since the suspension on these models likely already has over 40 years of service under its belt, and is based on 40+ year old technology. Rod & Custom Motorsports has designed and developed several different solutions for both the front and rear suspensions on these classic Mustangs, giving you lots of options to get rid of that outdated, poorly performing suspension.

Rod & Custom Rear Coil Over Conversion Kit 8" 1965-1970 is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality easy installation Recently installed a 1968 coupe, instructions where straightforward and took me a weekend to install, I opted to weld on the ears to my transmission for the two links so that took more time than most, shocks are easily adjustable too with supplied wrench. Two notes before you buy, this kit will not work with a stock exhaust pipe that comes out the rear, the coilovers sit right where it bends over the axle. Second kit needs to be powder coated or painted before installation to prevent rust. Over all definitely worth every penny just beware of the changes you'll have to make before you buy it

Product Questions

My main concern about purchasing this product for my 64.5 mustang is what the options are for exaust piping without excessive restriction? Any answers out there?

Asked by: chris64
There are no 100% bolt-on options for exhaust when running this kit. You can have a factory exhaust path all the way to the axle, after that you will have to fabricate or have a custom exhaust made from the axle back. And we recommend running the exhaust under the axle to avoid excessive restrictions.

Is there any difference on a rear coil over conversion kit for a 8" rear end and a 9" rear end?

Asked by: Beef
Yes, the fitments will be different. Use CJ part # RCCK1 for your 9-inch rear end.
