Redline Tuning Hood Strut Kit QuickLIFT ELITE Bolt-In V6/EcoBoost/GT 2015-2017 is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 41.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Redline tuning elite hood struts These hood struts are a nice addition to my '15 GT (should have been factory as it's in the manual). Having a slight issue with the drivers side fender bracket shifting position. Passenger side is solid. I modified the battery cover by cutting a slot from the bracket to fender side rail to ease removal of the cover. Design could be improved by creating an indexing point on the ball bracket. Therefore only 4 stars. Otherwise I dig the part.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Install and great parts Ordered the kit even before I got my ordered car. The install went easy and quick. They look great and work fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The way it should have came from the factory Like I said above, this is the way it should have came from the factory. A $40k+ car shouldnt have a prop rod...lol Anyway, I didnt give it five stars because I did have to do a tad bit of drilling and it wasnt direct bolt on as I expected. The problem was on the passenger side hood bracket. No matter how much prying I did I could not get it to line up with the hole for the washer push pin. Easy enough to fix, just ran a small bit through it and moved on. I would still recommend the kit since it looks good and gets the rod out of my way when I am under the hood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Should be on the Mustang from the factory Easy to install, makes raising the hood much easier, and looks better than the hood post.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product. I purchased a Redline Tuning Hood Strut Kit QuickLIFT ELITE for my 2015 Mustang. The price was right and the parts arrived on time. When I opened the package I was a little disappointed to see that instead of hood brackets for the driver and passenger side of the car, i had received 2 for the passenger side and none for the driver side. I called customer support and explained the problem. They immediately took care of the issue. I received the proper parts in the mail a few days later and now the strut kit is on the pony.

Does fitting this kit affect the active hood safety feature at all? Not sure if the US models have this but the Australian/European models do.

Asked by: Siddo
We do not recommend using this kit on models that are not US-Spec due to that exact reason.

I see that the Plus Kit has more substantial hood brackets than the Stainless Model. When will the Stainless Struts be available with the improved hood brackets?

Asked by: Breezer
All of our existing inventory is now the new design from Redline Tuning with the revised brackets. The brackets were revised to work better with aftermarket hoods.

Redline Tuning Hood Strut Kit QuickLIFT ELITE Bolt-In V6/EcoBoost/GT 2015-2017 Video Transcript
By Bill Tumas: I have a lot of modifications planned for my deep impact blue 2015 GT project car. Since many of these are going to be under the hood, one of the first steps I want to do is get rid of the factory prop rod. I have no idea why Ford still chooses to put a prop rod on the Mustang, but thanks to Red Line Tuning it's an easy problem to fix.

For my car I'm going to be going with the Quick Lift Elite kit. We've already showed you the Quick Lift Plus which comes with the black gas shocks. In the case of the elite, it upgrades you to stainless steel. Comes with the two shocks and all four brackets for installation. We've already showed you how to install these on a previous car, but there's been a couple of questions about a few steps so we're going to run through it one more time.

For this installation we're going to need a 3/8 ratchet, 10mm socket, 13mm socket, drill and a 3/4 step or standard drill bit.

The driver's side hood strut's easier to install so we're going to show you the passenger side. The first step is to remove the bolt from the top of the hinge.

These are a pain, so you want to be careful when removing them. The brackets are side specific. You want to make sure this notch here goes on the top and rests on the top of the hood hinge.

The lower bracket for the hood strut's going to mount right here behind the fender. The hole for it is actually underneath this battery cover, so you have to drill a hole.

Red Line included this template. Here's how you install it. Just start by unthreading the pushpin and you're actually going to remove the entire pushpin assembly, both pieces, put the bottom through the template and put the pushpin back in place. What you do is you kind of want to turn this to match the body line that's on here.

Put a little starter hole right there. Now you're going to remove all three of the pushpins and remove the battery cover to drill a hole.

Once you have the battery cover off, we're going to take the pilot hole and open it up to 3/4 of an inch. The fender brackets are going to go in this hole right here.

What you want to do is thread this red retainer just about as far down as it can and still holding on, you'll put it in this opening and tighten down the bolt.

The retainer actually has a raised section that's the exact size as the opening so once you get that seated you pull up on the bolt and tighten down.

Once the brackets are installed we can re-install our battery cover. You want to install the stainless steel hood struts with the body facing towards the hood. Clip it on and you want to push the hood up. Repeat the process on the other side.

The last step which is optional, but in my opinion finishes off the installation, remove the factory prop rod. Your installation's finished.

All right. Let's try them out. That's the way it should have worked from Ford. The stainless steel hood struts look great and the quality of construction means they're going to last a long time as well.

Not having the prop rod gives us a lot more room to work on the engine if you plan on doing a lot of them in the near future. Installation will take you no more than about a half an hour so you'll be back on the road in no time. For this and other 2015 install videos make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel.
