Redline Tuning Hood Strut Kit QuickLIFT PLUS Bolt-In GT350/GT350R 2015-2017 is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Shocks are nice, but....... The mounting point at the hood hinges seems wonky. The hood flexes when you grab it to pull it down. The supplied flange that is supposed to support the underneath side of the hood is not a great design. It allows the hood body to flex more than I care for, before it finally starts downward. As you pull it down, the hood almost looks like it's going to bend at that flange! Freaky looking, but so far seems like it might be OK? I hope to hear from others on this. I give it four stars because the Redline struts are the very best! Ive used them before. I just think more thought should have went into the upper mounting point on these new Mustangs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every GT350 should have these!!! I have been using Redline Tuning’s hood lifts since 1998 on several Mustangs, most currently on my 2016 GT350. Very high quality components, and easy detailed installation instructions. This system fits perfectly and only took me 20 minutes to install. The hole needed for the strut on the passenger side battery cover is barely noticeable and they even include the stepped drill bit! Hood raises a little higher than the ancient prop rod with no effort and stays put. The shocks give your engine compartment a very clean look and are absolutely worth $100, highly recommended!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits the GT 350 perfectly. After buying a Ford Licensed hood strut kit for the GT 350 and finding that it did not fit, I bought the Redline Tuning strut kit. It fits the GT 350 perfectly. Installation took about 20 minutes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2017 Shelby GT350 Redline Hood Strut Lift Kit I originally installed a redline hood lift kit on my 2007 Shelby GT. I followed that up with a lift kit on my 2913 GT Premium, then on a 2015 GT Premium and now on my new 2017 Shelby GT350. They have all worked flawlessly and I wouldn`t recommend any other brand. I highly recommend the Redline brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product If I was limited to only one modification to my car, replacing the factory prop bar with hood struts would be that mod. This is a Great Product that enhances accessibility under the hood and Thank you CJ Pony Parts for the step by step installation video.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I am very pleased with this product. Looks good and works great. Only problem was hole that is drilled in battery cover should be 1in. Instead of 3/4in.

Product Questions

After installing the strut kit, if battery cover needs to be removed, does the strut need to be popped off to remove the battery cover? And is it relatively easy to pop it off and will it compromise the lower strut connection on the battery side?

Asked by: Zero 260
The instruction sheet clearly explains that for this purpose, you can cut a straight line from the outside of the cover directly to the drilled hole and therefore alleviate the need for removing the shock for battery replacement. I did it on mine... And BTW, as mentioned above...the hole really should be 1" in diameter. The 3/4" hole is not quite enuf. ;-)

Redline Tuning Hood Strut Kit QuickLIFT PLUS Bolt-In GT350/GT350R 2015-2017 Video Transcript
By Bill Tumas: You just picked up a new GT350 Mustang, arguably one of the baddest factory Mustang's ever produced. You pop your hood, you'll show off that killer flat plane crank 5.2 liter engine, reach down to the carbon fiber composite rear support and grab an old school prop rod to hold the hood open. This was barely acceptable on a new Mustang and definitely not acceptable on a brand new GT350. Today we're going to fix this problem by installing a set of redline Tuning hood struts.

This hood strut kit form Red Line Tuning Designs is simply for your new GT350. It has quality components top to bottom, starting with a set of hood struts, a pair of high quality fender brackets, 2 hood brackets, a template for drawing out your battery cover and Redline even includes the necessary drill bit for making the hole. For this installation there's a 3/8th ratchet, 10mm socket, 13mm socket, punch and a drill. We begin the installation over on the passenger side of our Shelby, the reason being is the passenger side is a little more involved so we have to modify our battery cover, the driver hinge is going to be a little easier to do.

The first step though is to remove this nut here from the top of the hood hinge. Make sure you grab the correct bracket, you want the one with the stud facing inward and the drop down going this way cause obviously this is going to mount over the hood hinge. Before this goes into place though, you're going to reach down and pop off its washer hose. Give it a little shimmy with your hand and it should come right off. We'll put the bracket into place. This goes over the stud, this hole here is going to line up with the hole for the washer hose.

If it doesn't, you may have to loosen this bottom nut here and make a slight adjustment to the hood. Part case lines up no problem. I'm going to route the hose on the inside of the stud here and then reinstall this. Next step now is to begin to modify the battery cover. First, I'm going to do is remove just this outside screw here, it's a thumb screw. Remove it and pull it out. Now grab the supply template from Redline, install that through it and then reinstall it. What you want to do then is turn this so that it lines up with the plastic edging and the groove right there.

Making a little hole up here, we're going to mark that and that's where we're going to drill. Now we can remove this finger screw again here and with the other 2, we're going to remove the battery cover. Now using our mark as a pilot, you're going to drill out to 3/4 of an inch using the supplied uni-bit. Next we're going to install the fender bracket itself. You want to start by screwing this insert all the way to the bottom. This is going to go down into this hole here at an angle. You're basically going to pull up on it. If you look, there's a beveled edge on the top that will fit right in the opening.

If you get the edge in there, pull up on it and then start to tighten it down. Now reinstall the battery cover and then reinstall the screws. Now we're going to install the hood strut itself. You always want the body of the hood strut facing upward. Put it on there, you want to lift the hood up, click it on there then move on to the driver's side. The process over here on the driver's side is going to be the exact same except no battery cover to worry about. The last part of the installation which is optional but in my opinion, it's not done until the factory prop rod is off the car and you're installation is done. Now this is how it should've come from Ford. Thanks to Redline Tuning it's very, very easy to do. Installation should take you no more than about an hour and you'll be back on the road in no time.
