After installing the strut kit, if battery cover needs to be removed, does the strut need to be popped off to remove the battery cover? And is it relatively easy to pop it off and will it compromise the lower strut connection on the battery side?

This hood strut kit form Red Line Tuning Designs is simply for your new GT350. It has quality components top to bottom, starting with a set of hood struts, a pair of high quality fender brackets, 2 hood brackets, a template for drawing out your battery cover and Redline even includes the necessary drill bit for making the hole. For this installation there's a 3/8th ratchet, 10mm socket, 13mm socket, punch and a drill. We begin the installation over on the passenger side of our Shelby, the reason being is the passenger side is a little more involved so we have to modify our battery cover, the driver hinge is going to be a little easier to do.
The first step though is to remove this nut here from the top of the hood hinge. Make sure you grab the correct bracket, you want the one with the stud facing inward and the drop down going this way cause obviously this is going to mount over the hood hinge. Before this goes into place though, you're going to reach down and pop off its washer hose. Give it a little shimmy with your hand and it should come right off. We'll put the bracket into place. This goes over the stud, this hole here is going to line up with the hole for the washer hose.
If it doesn't, you may have to loosen this bottom nut here and make a slight adjustment to the hood. Part case lines up no problem. I'm going to route the hose on the inside of the stud here and then reinstall this. Next step now is to begin to modify the battery cover. First, I'm going to do is remove just this outside screw here, it's a thumb screw. Remove it and pull it out. Now grab the supply template from Redline, install that through it and then reinstall it. What you want to do then is turn this so that it lines up with the plastic edging and the groove right there.
Making a little hole up here, we're going to mark that and that's where we're going to drill. Now we can remove this finger screw again here and with the other 2, we're going to remove the battery cover. Now using our mark as a pilot, you're going to drill out to 3/4 of an inch using the supplied uni-bit. Next we're going to install the fender bracket itself. You want to start by screwing this insert all the way to the bottom. This is going to go down into this hole here at an angle. You're basically going to pull up on it. If you look, there's a beveled edge on the top that will fit right in the opening.
If you get the edge in there, pull up on it and then start to tighten it down. Now reinstall the battery cover and then reinstall the screws. Now we're going to install the hood strut itself. You always want the body of the hood strut facing upward. Put it on there, you want to lift the hood up, click it on there then move on to the driver's side. The process over here on the driver's side is going to be the exact same except no battery cover to worry about. The last part of the installation which is optional but in my opinion, it's not done until the factory prop rod is off the car and you're installation is done. Now this is how it should've come from Ford. Thanks to Redline Tuning it's very, very easy to do. Installation should take you no more than about an hour and you'll be back on the road in no time.
