When you purchase this conversion, you'll be required to provide the year of your classic Mustang as well as its engine size. You'll also have a choice on your hands, as this kit is offered with multiple brake options. You'll be able to choose whether you want plain rotors, slotted & drilled rotors or a Wilwood brake kit. The Wilwood brake kit features 11" Dynalite drilled & slotted two-piece vented rotors as well as forged four piston black aluminum calipers. The calipers will allow you to use smaller diameter wheels, letting your vintage Pony be the ultimate sleeper.
Wheel and Tire Fitment Notes:
- For optimum tire clearance CJ Pony Parts strongly recommends no wider than a 7” wheel
- A 7” wide wheel will need to have 4” to 4-1/2” of backspacing
- An 8” wide wheel is possible, but must have custom backspacing
- All 15”, 16” and 17” wheels are acceptable and recommended
- Some 14” wheels will fit with this kit, however most will not

Tech Tips: Please check the diagram in the installation instructions for 15" wheel fitment. CJ Pony Parts also uses Fox Body Long Tube Headers when installing this kit on 1965-1973 Mustangs with a 289, 302 or 351W engine.

Josh: Here we are in the mock up stage of our rear 4-Link suspension. We're using a Ride Tech Air Bar because we're using an '88 rear end we're using these weld-on brackets, but most of the kits if you have an 8 or a 9 inch with a factor leaf spring they have a bolt-on bracket also. We're using the HQ series shockwave bags. At the core of this 4-Link is this bracket up here that bolts in the factory mounting locations. The lower bars bolt in to your factory front leaf spring mounts and obviously to these rear brackets. We have the upper 4-Link bars with Heim Joint ends and they're adjustable so you can set your pinion angle.
Like I said, this is just a mock-up stage. We've cut all the bracketry off of this '88 rear end. Once we get everything measured, set up, welded on solid, we're actually going to cut the ends off this '88 and put 9 inch ends on. That's basically how our rear suspension gets set up. It's pretty easy, quick bolt-on, functions really, really well. With the shockwaves we have we'll have full height adjustment and great handling.
