Please Note: The 2015-2017 Mustang specific Roush shift knobs will ship with a small tube of Blue Loctite. The included instructions will specify exactly how the Roush shift knob should be installed. No jam-nut or retainer will be included or needed for proper installation.
Roush offers their shift knobs in black or white with the correct, original 6-speed shift pattern (reverse to the left and up) on the top of the knob and bold ROUSH logos on both sides of the knob. The shift pattern and logos are displayed in white on the black shift knobs and black on the white shift knobs. Each shift knob is made from premium quality phenolic resin which is the same substance used in creating billiard balls for superior durability along with an impressive overall appearance.

To remove the stock shift, I'll just get a good grip on it and turn it counter-clockwise. Once you have the knob off, take a quick look at your threads. It's a brand new car, so they should be okay, but just make sure there's nothing in the threads and they're clean before we begin the installation. Now you're going to open up the Loctite and put some on the threads. Since you're not 100% sure where it's going to sit, basically put it top to bottom so it's covered.
Now take the shift knob, carefully line it up. Make sure you don't cross-thread it. When you have it right, it'll thread on really easily. What you want to do is basically thread it down just until the knob goes over the silver release mechanism. Once you get it to that point, go down about 2 to 3 full turns. We'll try 3. Make sure you don't thread the shift ball down too far. You'll only go about 2 or 3 turns past the edge. If you thread it all the way down, you will damage the knob. You want to make sure before you let it go that it smoothly goes into reverse, you don't feel it hanging up. Make sure it's aligned perfectly straight. You'll want to let it sit overnight so it hardens up.
If you're worried about using Loctite instead of a conventional lock nut, don't be. Ford actually used Loctite for the Boss 302 shift knobs, and if you ever tried to remove one of those, you'll know it does not come off easily. Once the thing sets up and hardened, it'll be nice and tight, and won't have any movement at all.
The Roush white shift ball adds a nice classic touch to our 2015 Mustang, and is very easy to install.
