Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit and finish Great way to a cool little dealer installed option, that is cheap and semi easy to install.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great Although a pin-locking gas cap motivated the recent purchase I wish I had bought this 20 years ago. It makes the car so much more livable now that I don't have to go get my keys every time I want to open the trunk. I too had some trouble adjusting it until I stumbled on the "trick" to make it function consistently. The following helped me get this working 100% of the time: 1. Use electrical tape to cover the entire distance of the clip once it is attached. 2. Adjust the length of the cable by holding the handle up (i.e.paper towel roll) and manually move the latch finger with the trunk lid up while the key slot is in the vertical position and adjust the cable until it opens the latch all the time and screw it down. 3. Test your settings by manually moving the latch finger with the trunk lid open and using the handle inside to release it a few times. 4. Shut the trunk a few times and try and open it with the handle. At this point my setup felt too tight in cable pressure until I accidentally left my key in the key slot at a 45 degree angle and noticed the cable felt better and barely opened the lid when shut. 4. Finagle the key slot to the horizontal position (90 degrees clockwise) and always use the handle to open the trunk. I barely put the tip of the key in to do this as I was unable to pull my key out if I put it all the way in. This product works just as I envisioned once I stumbled on the horizontal key slot position following the procedure above but your mileage may vary depending on the condition of your particular key cylinder.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Working I bought this due to a pin lock that I installed on my gas cap, and make it easier to get into the trunk without the key. I hooked it up and there isn't enough pull in the cable to pop the trunk lock. I'd get the electric one but my luck with anything electrical is hit and miss.

Product Questions

do you have a picture of how the paperclip end attaches to the truck latch? The directions given were nice being in color but still felt vague and small. I am currently stationed at Incirlik AB.

Asked by: Meanbgreen
Sorry we do not have any pictures of the latch clip installed.

can I install this remote trunk release without using the factory lockset? I have a custom trunk lid I am installing which is not drilled for a lock so that is why I want this remote trunk release.

Asked by: Lonnie66
Having just installed one, I would say yes as the cable attaches to the trunk latch and it is on the inside.
