Product Description

Scott Drake Shifter Seal for 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973 Mustangs with an Automatic Transmission.

Are you looking for a new seal for your 1969-1973 Mustang's shifter? If so, you've come to the right spot. Check out this Scott Drake Shifter Seal that's meant for classic 1969-1973 Mustangs with an automatic transmission!

This Scott Drake D1ZZ-7D351-A Shifter Seal is an excellent reproduction of your original seal. It's made out of high-quality rubber that's molded around a flexible steel insert. The insert is cadmium-plated, which will help prevent rust and other corrosion-related issues. The original shifter seal found on Mustangs like yours is a commonly replaced part since they tend to wear down over time or go missing all together.

Scott Drake Automatic Shifter Seal 1969-1973 is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Well ... Not exactly what I expected. My Mustang is new to me (1970 Conv) and it needed a shifter seal (as the original was completely missing). Obviously Scott Drake was all over the web with licensed after market parts and seemed to have a very good reputation. CJPony's price seemed fairly reasonable so I ordered. Product arrived timely enough and I couldn't wait to get it installed (after work of course). Upon opening the package I was disappointed in the quality and appearance of the part. The black rubber seal (which coats a curved metal band) was pealing away in areas. In others, it appears it was either warn (possibly used) or was never completely coated to begin with. Fortunately, the area that is visible after installation was in tact and given I am/was an excited "new" Mustang owner I installed it as opposed to returning it. (See pics) I'll likely give SD and CJPony another shot but I hope this particular part is not representative of their usual standards.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quality The new one is not as good as the one I removed. The rubber appears thinner and is not all encompassing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit Simple to install. It makes a big difference in the appearance as you look at the shifter.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from AT seal It's doable but some imperfection though it won't be visable when installed

Product Questions

Do you have to do anything other than just remove the automatic shifter handle and floor plate to replace this?  Any need to disconnect the shifter from underneath the car?

Asked by: notterfamily
Just remove the top plate for replacement.
