It does NOT come with 10 Custom Tunes. It has the ability to hold up to 10 Custom Tunes. This will not arrive with any custom tunes, but you can build your own strategy tune with the built tin software for most, if not all of the modifications you have listed. But for your setup I would still strongly recommend acquiring a custom tune.

Just plug in and play? (Of course follow the directions) but it will already come with preloaded tunes? No need for a custom tune? 96 cobra with x pipe and intake.

Yes, just plug and play. It doesn't come with pre-loaded tunes, but it gives you the ability to create your own calibration. It will not be anything like a full custom tune, but you will be able to adjust several parameters for your current setup. Take a look at all the user adjustable setting in the description.

Can you do a tune for a 2008 Shelby GT500 with 2.6 pulley K&N CAI and Flowmaster axleback exhaust 95 Octane race tune? (SCTx4 is what I want to buy)

With those mods, you will really want to get it professionally tuned. Before you buy, we highly recommend speaking to a professional tuning shop to see what they recommend - the base tunes on the SCT X4 just don't handle the performance and mods that you have. It takes advanced, professional tuning to get that done.

Is there anything that you should change in the settings or for tune like octane adjustment ratio. I got the 93 octane summer tune ? Why I do see some improvement don't see the types of gains that I expected.

Most likely not - since turning those off will kill the emissions legality and hurt your engine, they don't give you that option.

By Bill Tumas: Custom tuning is important to get the most out of the modifications you've done to your Mustang but even if it's stock, a good custom tune is going to increase your horsepower as well as your gas mileage. We've done several videos showing you the SCT X calibrator 3, not only tuning Mustangs with it, we also use it to tune our Eco-boost F!50 as well as our Focus ST.While the X Calibrator 3 is a great tuner it's definitely starting to show its age and SCT felt it was time for something new. They've retired the X calibrator 3 and introduced our most powerful flash tuner to date, the X4.

The most obvious difference you're going to see right under the box is going to the size. As you can see the new X4 is much smaller than the old X calibrator 3. You'll also notice there's no cable connected to it, the cable that connects to your OBD2 port is actually detachable which is much nicer than the fixed cable used on the old X calibrator 3. That's just scratching the surface so let's get it plugged in and we'll show you the other differences.

First we'll plug it into the port under the dash, that just plugs in right on top of the tuner. As soon as you plug it in see the unit turns on, the most obvious thing over the last one, not only is the screen larger, full color makes it a lot easier to see, especially in bright daylight when you're trying to do your tuning.

They always say why fix what's not broken, so a lot of the main menu features are going to be the same because simply they work. You'll notice that the tuner's a lot faster, it's going between things, it's much quicker than the old model. You have program vehicle, you have your data logging, vehicle diagnostics for check engine light and the vehicle device info. which tells you about the car as well as the tuner itself.

The main menu looks pretty much like the old X3 but obviously it's in full color and it's much larger but it does the same basic thing because simply it worked before. Here's where the X4's going to be a little bit different than the X3 you're used to. Program vehicles the same as it was before, when you hit your tuner you're going to go into program vehicle, read the information on there explaining what the tune is and you let it continue. I'm going to put the key on and turn it forward, just follow the instructions on the screen. Continue. Now what the unit's doing is it's actually we're plugging in to the OBD2 port to figure out what kind of car it is. You can see, Focus ST or Mustang comes up which is correct for our 2011. This is also where you would put a custom tune if you had a dialer tune.

You're going to go into Focus ST or Mustang, and what it's going to next is it's going to bring up the options that the SCT tuner has for this car. First thing you can choose is octane and click in there, choose which octane you're running and go with 93 octane. Rear auto two censors on or off. If you don't have catalytic converters you can turn the censors off. In pick air box, you're going to choose which air box you have. JLT Carmen. Global spark allows you to mess with the timing, I wouldn't suggest messing with this, leave It at zero degrees and let it tune as it is. Mostly you can just retard timing you can advance it but mostly I would leave it alone. Axle ratio, choose what gears you have, we have 373's. Tire revs per mile, this is so you can put a larger tire on your car. If you want away from the factory 19's and put a 20 or whatever, we're going to go to the manufacturers website, look up the revs per mile for the tire you're running and change that. We'll leave it stock for now. Speed limiter you can turn the speed limiter off what you're going to want to do for most tunes you can leave that off. Then you have rev limit neutral, drive, and you're done. Basically once you have everything you want you can click over to the approve and you hit the approve button and that's going to tune your car.

Here you can go in and actually datalog on different parameters of the car and then store the SCT and then you can download it from your X4 to your computer using the supplied cable. The vehicle diagnostics screen allows you to go in and check your codes as well as clear them. Click on that, turn your key on. Scan, it tells you what codes are found.If you do find any codes on your car you can go into the clear section here and they'll clear them out for you. The vehicle info tab, basically the VIM number of your car, your strategy code, everything you need for doing custom tuning. Device info will tell you about the device, it'll also tell you what software is in it, what revisions you have, if it's locked to your car and how many unlocks it has left.

Last section here is going to be device settings. I'm going to click into that and see where it says check updates. SCT regular updates the firmware in their tuners to make them work better overall. Before you're to plug into your computer and do all the downloads to make it all work, now it's actually via wifi. If you have wifi available in your area, you can plug in your tuner to your car, click on wifi and do the downloads right to the tuner itself. You also have adjustments for display and brightness here.

The orientation display, you can even change the theme, if you don't like the red, you see the blue theme gives it a nice grabber blue color which matches our car well or you can go to a dark theme which makes it a black screen and makes everything pop out a little bit more. You have a light censor, it's actually on the bottom of the unit, here we'll adjust the display given how much light's in the room. You can turn the sounds off, change the menu, all kinds of custom features you can set up on here. Click on that and go back to our main menu.
