Product Description

SPEC Stage 4 Clutch Kit for all 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Focus STs with a SPEC Specific Flywheel.

SPEC's Stage 4 Clutch Kit is similar to the Stage 3 Kit but with a solid hub clutch disc. Solid or unsprung hubs don't absorb vibrations and harshness like sprung hubs do. The rigid hub can be driven on the street but it is not very street friendly and is best used for drag racing, road racing and rally racing. Like the Stage 3 Kit, the Stage 4 Kit has a torque capacity of 580. Once paired with SPEC's lightweight aluminum flywheel, your Focus ST will see quicker revs due to the decrease in rotational mass. The non-SAC clutch kit can obtain greater clamping force than the stock dual mass clutch.

This clutch kit features a non-SAC (Self-Adjusting Clutch) mechanism pressure plate unlike the stock style clutch found on the 2013-2016 Focus STs. Deviating from the original design provides a lighter rotating assembly, higher RPM capability and greater clamp load levels. The kit must be used with SPEC's specific flywheel for this application which features a lightweight, low MOI design and infinite rebuildability. Non-SAC clutch kits offer higher torque capacity than SPEC stock replacement clutch kits of equal level.

Features a puck style clutch disc with carbon-graphite friction material. Puck clutches make for an aggressive engagement which becomes even more aggressive with the solid hub. Since there are no springs to absorb vibration, the harshness is absorbed by the drivetrain which is hard on the transmission. The high torque unsprung hub will create clutch chatter and should be used in race applications. The solid 8-rivet hub and assembly is heat treated for strength and durability.

*This clutch kit will NOT work with the stock flywheel. The pressure plate in this clutch kit differs from the original Focus ST clutch design and must be used with SPEC flywheel SF33A4.

By Bill Tumas: We’re here with a non-self-adjusting SPEC stage four clutch kit, fitting your 2013 through 2016 Focus ST. I'll start off by saying if your Focus is your daily driver, this is not the clutch for you. This is a competition style clutch, designed for a high horsepower, high torque Focus ST and will hold up to five hundred and eighty foot pound of torque. This is a non-self- adjusting style clutch so it will require the use of an aluminum matching flywheel from SPEC as well. When you get rid of the self-adjusting set up you will have a much lighter rotating assembly with much better, high RPM capabilities and much better clamping levels as well. This is a puck-style clutch with a solid hub, with a very, very aggressive grip. This is not a clutch you're going to be slipping. This is definitely an on-off style clutch, again designed for competition use. The six puck clutch features a carbon graphite material on each of the pucks. Gives you a very aggressive style material for the engagement of your clutch, combined with this solid unsprung hub, gives you a very aggressive on-off style clutch. Definitely not something you'd want in your daily driver. Installed with a required non-SAC flywheel. This combination from SPEC can be excellent for your high horsepower, drag race Focus ST.
