If you live in a state that requires a front license plate, you may need to relocate your license plate, because the first part of this process is to relocate or to remove the license plate bracket. In our case, we're going to remove the front license place bracket, because we don't need it. To remove it, just get your fingers in here and push out on the tabs.
This harness connects directly to the factory fog light harness, but being that this truck has a shutter for the radiator, it's not exactly a straight shot. What we have to do to run this wire all the way back here, we need to pop this panel off and run it through some grommets in order to get it to the factory fog light harness. First thing we're going to do to run this wire is we're going to pop off or at least loosen this assembly here. Get yourself either a screwdriver or a trim removal tool and get it behind the plastic and just pry the clips out.
It's going to be easier to run one connector through all the grommets and holes that we're going through instead of two, so we're going to start off by the fog light, by unplugging the fog light harness. Then take the Starkey harness and the factory fog light harness and plug them into each other, and then take this connector on the Starkey harness and plug it into the fog light. Now the fog light is connected. All we have to do is run this single connector out to the grille. Put your hand underneath the tow hook and push up to separate the rubber from the front air dam, and run the connector through that gap. Now push up on the front of the rubber of the tow hook, lift up on it, and then you can run the harness through the rubber grommet and then into the bumper. Then push back on this rubber, and now it's in position to plug into the grille.
With both harnesses ran, reinstall the clips on the trim panel if they were stuck in the bumper, and reinstall the trim panel. Now take the L-bracket and anchor clip provided in the kit, and put the anchor clip on the L-bracket. Now take the screw provided with the kit, put it through the front of the grille, and thread it on to the L-bracket, but you only need to just start the threads. Leave it loose, and then we're going to put it in the truck. Plug in the harness to the grille. To install the grille, get the L-bracket behind the trim piece, tilt it back, lift it up, and then tighten the screw. Now clean up the wiring, test to make sure that the lights work and your installation is finished.
This is what it looks like 12 feet away from the wall. As you can see, it kind of looks like the headlights are on, but this is just the fog lights and the grille. It is significantly bright. This is what it looks like with the headlights on in conjunction with the grille. The T-Rex Torch Bumper Grille is installed. It looks great. It throws off a ton of light, but as you can see, our factory fog lights kind of look out of place now, and they're due for an upgrade as well. Installation should take you about an hour and all you'll need is a Phillips-head screwdriver and a plastic pry bar, and before you know it, you'll be heading down the road.
