Total Control Products Front Coil Spring Suspension System 1965-1973

Product Description

Total Control Products Front Coil Spring Suspension System for 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973 Mustangs with 1970-1973 Style Spindles.

The Front Coil Spring Suspension System is comprised of control arms, strut rods, shocks, springs and all necessary mounting components. This kit will finish off your front suspension with the exception of 70-73 style spindles. Performance springs, single adjustable shocks and other suspension components come together to fix the poor factory geometry and greatly improve the ride of your classic Mustang.

The Front Coil Spring Suspension System was designed with five goals in mind:
- Keep the tire contact patch flat on the road surface
- Maintain precise control of suspension travel arcs and spindle position
- Control wheel movement without causing a harsh ride
- Reduce body roll and pitch
- Provide adjustability for tuning purposes

- Pair of adjustable upper control arms
- Pair of TrueCenter lower control arms
- Pair of TrueCenter adjustable strut rods
- Pair of single adjustable shocks
- Pair of lowering springs
- Pair of lower spring perches
- Pair of spring isolators
- Mounting hardware

Total Control Products Upper Control Arms are constructed from 1" x .156" wall steel tubing and feature double adjustment couplers with an adjustment range of 1". Caster can be adjusted within 6° and camber can be adjusted within 5-1/2°. Alloy-steel rod ends contain low friction, polymer bearing races which eliminate deflection and the increasing resistance found with rubber and polyurethane bushings. A 1" dropped aluminum pivot shaft eliminates the need to drill the shock tower to take advantage of higher camber gain. Grade 8 hardware secures the pivot shaft and the rod ends. A four bolt ball joint has a relocated zerk fitting for easier access. Shim sets are provided for alignment purposes.

TrueCenter Lower Control Arms improve suspension geometry by precisely controlling the ball joint travel arc. The inner bushing on the control arm features a spherical bearing with high strength polymer races which create a deflection free, low friction pivot point. This bearing setup can safely handle caster settings beyond the ability of rubber or polyurethane bushings. A threaded retaining ring and locking set screw maintain bearing preload. The control arm is constructed from 1-1/8" x .156" wall steel tubing which is connected to the 1-1/4" shank socket housing by an overlapping robotic spray-arc welded joint. Ball joint plates and mid-plates are made from 1/4" steel which eliminate deflection at the spindle and OEM positioned sway bar attachment points. Includes grade 8 mounting hardware and premium screw-in ball joints that are replaceable.

TrueCenter Strut Rods are the only strut rods available that maintain correct suspension geometry without the increased resistance found with rubber and polyurethane bushings. Caster adjustment can be changed 3° to 4° depending on application. Up to 12° misalignment is available in any direction which allows the strut rod to rotate beyond the limits of a standard rod end. A low friction pivot center with zero deflection is achieved with high strength, non-compressible polymer bearing races. The strut rod is constructed from 1" x .156" wall steel tubing with a large crimped end that is robotic spray-arc welded to a 5/16" steel control arm adapter plate with an integrated steering stop.

Features and Benefits:
- Lower center of gravity
- Higher roll center
- Reduced vehicle roll rate
- Quicker negative camber gain

The VariShock single adjustable QuickSet 1 allows you to adjust rebound and compression simultaneously. A knob has 16 clicks to tune the firmness of the VariShocks. American made VariShocks are constructed from premium components which means each shock performs virtually identically unlike other cheaper shocks. Total Control Products' revolutionary adjustment mechanism uses Deflective Disk Valving in the pistons to eliminate spring fatigue. If for any reason the shocks get bent or damaged, they can be rebuilt. Up to 350% more urethane material is used on the ends for superior load distribution.

Performance Series springs offer increased performance with linear spring rates and predictable handling characteristics. Linear spring rates are stiffer than progressive rate springs and provide a high performance feel. TCP springs are made from high strength alloy steel and wound on a specialized CNC spring coiler. The springs are then powder coated for a lasting appearance.

Each spring sits on a spring perch that is lower than the factory spring perch. The perches have rubber pivot bushings and they are made from all new materials. Upper spring isolators are made from 1/4" thick, high strength black polyurethane.
